thinking of gettin a tec to go with my chrome maze 4 as you can seam to buy all teh parts seperate i.e. the pelt, cold plate and foam and grease

Anyway to my point would u advise an 80w pelt or a 110w pelt for my 6800gt, i wanna get soem uber clocka nd just woundering what wattage pelt i should get a 80w? 100w? 172w?

Phil

It's gotta be 172w mate, anything less will not cool that babay down sufficiently for you to enjoy all the goodness it can provide.

Yep, has to be 172W, 80W will just heat everything up. What PSU you going to use? Also do you have a different rad in mind? As 120.1 won't hack it.

I used a 110W TEC on my 6800U to achieve over 15,000 3dMark03 score.

And you want to be careful, as many 6800's suffer from cold throttling at sub 25*C.

Thats correct.

Asus have there own probe and the XFX have a better BIOS than their generic counterparts.

Still 172 watt Pelts - does notmean you have to use all 172watts - although condensation can be an issue - as with any pelt cooling.

Of course it's only as good as the watercooling set-up you use.

poss changing case to a twin 7 mm case the baby bro to phils case on 40 x 40 x 40 cm big so acceptable in size and i will fit a 120.2 in it or a pa160to get nice temps! so you recon a 172 w tec what temps should i get

(wont reply to this again , unless i get in a internet cafe as off on hols)

Id like to get a TEC on my CPU or gfx as I miss the mega overclocks :(

Do you get significantly higher clocks than just plain water?

I have a 120.3, Cather's G4, Silverprop HL, AQZ 50t, X850XT, 3700+SD

I use a 172w/24v 40mm x 40mm tec under a maze 4-1 for my x850xtpe.I use a meanwell sp320/24,a thermochill 120/2,2 panaflo's and c-systems pump.I think it's a really good gpu cooling solution.,as it all fits in 1 case, temps are significantly better than plain water,it's suitable for 24/7,insulating is a breeze(compared to phase) and its easily adapted to future upgrades. My gpu never hits 30c,even with 1.85v,and is usually around 20c under full load. This has enabled me to reach clocks similar to the guys using single stage phase.Initial setup costs can be expensive, but it's long term is a good compromise between water and phase. One thing to note though, maze 4 gpu is NOT suitable for a tec,as the maze 4 gpu and maze 4-1 gpu are different. The maze 4 has a raised centre to ensure good contact on gpu, whilst the maze 4-1 is flat to get good contact on the tec.The insulation that comes with the 4-1 is inadequate too, you'll need to get one of those neoprene packs.

Thickbrit, have you got any pics of the tec on the gfx card.. be great to see em if you have.

Have you ever tec'd the cpu too or do you have phase?

Here's the TEC setup on a 6800U and an X800XT PE :D:

lol, 12V although I think the TEC's are rated at 15V. Peltiers are good fun, so if you got the time they are well worth playing with :)

It's a real shame that they are not slim enough to fit on SLI else I'd give it a go just to see how high I could clock SLI.

Coach Mav

I think they probs are slim enough if you use low profiles or even with your innovateks possibly but they're not much use with 7800gtxs as they will throttle at 30-35C with current drivers and can even break from being too cold.
