System Vs System

Hi,

I have been running some RAM tests on my X99 system and comparing them to another rig...

Rig 1: (Full custom water cooled)
Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Formula
CPU: 4790k @ 4.6Ghz
RAM: G Skill Trident X 2400 @ CL 10-12-12-31 ( 2 x 8gb sticks)

Hyper PI score 10m 57s
All threads selected (8)
----------------------------------------------------

Rig 2: (Full custom water cooled)
Mobo: Asus Rampage V Extreme
CPU: 5960x @ 4.375Ghz
RAM: G Skill RipJawz 4 2666 @ CL 15-15-15-35 ( 4 x 4gb sticks)

Hyper PI Score @ BCLK 100 = 11m 56s & BCLK 125 = 10m 33s
All threads selected (16)

Does this look right? I know that Rig 1 is running @ 4.6 Ghz V.s 4.3 Ghz.
But with more overall power I'd have expected the X99 to come out on top?

Am I doing something wrong or does this look about right?

Hyper Pi is single threaded, so core clock speed is much more important than number of cores.

You can't judge a system based on just one benchmark. To find out which system is better, use benchmarks that relate to what you use your PC for - Cinebench for video editing, Firestrike / Unigine for gaming etc.

You'll find that games bench better at higher core speeds, and video editing benches better with more cores. Which is why the best gaming CPU right now is the i5-4690K.
