hey guys, turned off my comp last night whent to turn it on this morn and it wasent booting just kept hanging so i unplugged the power cable flicked the switch a few times still no joy,so i took out a stick of RAM but still no joy.

even tried booting with the bare componants but nope not working, now my mobo has built in graphics,so i took out my 4890 and hey presto it booted fine without a hitch,so WTF is goin on it was fine yesterday.

any help would me awsome

yer windows update, importent things apparentley i dident even no they were installed or installing but nothing out of the ordinary apart from some XML thingy,GPU wise no not since last week, but if they were installed yesterday then it was running fine till i shutdown, card isent even that old 5-6months so annoying

if it doesnt POST when the graphics card is plugged in, it wont be OS related. Sounds like your graphics card is broken. any chance you can test it in another machine?

wish i could mate, ime at uni at evryone uses lappys i dont have another gpu ither ime screwd till crimbo now,not sure how it can be beoken tho it was fine lastnight, its strange

anything can just break. It's computers for you!

you have warranty so what you worried about :p you can get it sent off for RMA as its still under its first year of warranty

what if i dident register it,plus ime at uni so i dont have the box or anything till after crimbo man its annoying

is there nothing else i can try

You can clear the Cmos on the board and give that a try, altho if you havent saved you OC settings youll lose em'....

I would clear the Cmos and boot with 1 stick of ram, then go in and fiddle with the display settings in the bios, IE disable onboard and set primary to PCI-E...

You are fine to RMA without box etc, just find who you bought it from, go thru the rma procedure and get it posted delivery... If you RMA back to manufacturer it is normally quicker as you can chase it up :)

i cleard the CMOS and the onboard GPU disables when the 4890 gets installed,i got it from scan, but like i said i dont have the box or anything not even a antistatic bag lol, sosend it to scan or xfx

just a question there is a tad bit of dust accros the backof the gpu maybe that might be doing something shiorting maybe
