switch help

Really anything thats a one way circuit can turn on or off the computer. I thought it would be cool to try and use one of those finger detecting buttons on it but then realized my DFI has an EZ On button *slaps head*

Is that switch a momentary one? Or does it stay in the on/off position.

The problem I can see is if it stays in the 'on' position once you've turned the switch then your pc will boot, and a few seconds later it will turn off (because the ATX switches only require a momentary connection to switch the pc on, and the same to turn off).

Ideally look for a switch that is momentary. There are key-based ones on the net that are spring loaded, so you put the key in, turn it round to 'on' and then it springs back to 'off'.

You could always just turn the key and then turn it back, or wire the switch in series with the regular power switch so that you turn the switch to on and then press the button to start your pc.

It will work if it isn't momentary but you will have to turn it to on and then back to off so that the pc doesn't turn on and off.

ok well can someone help me find a momentary switch on the net? i only found one on amazon but i dont really like round keys.

I think you might be hard pushed :(

How about going to a breakers yard and seeing if they've got anything?
