Swiftech H320 Compact Drive II, Anyone used this ?

Whilst I wait I thought I'd see if any other reviews tell the same story, So far I've checked the following -

X-Bit Labs
TweakTown
XtremeSystems
Anandtech
TechOfTomorrow
TechPowerUp
LinusTechTips
HiTechLegion
3DGAMEMAN

As well as various "un-official" user made reviews.

And all of them have it *H220* either on par or beating the Corsair offering, OC3D must have gotten a faulty sample, It's the only explanation.

It will perform fine as an AIO of course.

The expandability gimmick is a complete joke though.

Would you kindly care to explain why you think so?

They've added the 'expandable' tickbox to their product specs to make people that have never watercooled more likely to get into watercooling and buy their products, not because it's sensible.

They've added a pump 3 times more powerful than the competition and continued to bolt it, with no decoupling, directly to the cpu socket. If you expand you need to turn the pump up because it still isn't ultra-powerful.

What you get if you expand a h320:

-a skinny radiator
-a non-decoupled pump with an ugly cpu block. I can't find a proper flow rate figure but I'd bet it's restrictive like swiftech gpu blocks.

People say it's a cheap start to a custom loop, and it is, because you're not getting a D5, you don't need a res until you expand it and you're getting a skinny radiator.

TBH most people that buy one, citing expandability as a reason for getting it, probably won't expand it anyway.

Personally I couldn't care less about expanding it, I want my CPU to run cooler and this will do it well and I like the look of it over the others.

If you like the look and don't want to expand the 3x120 is a good choice as you can run the fans slower than the 220

For me the performance for the price is the most important factor. The expandability is just a bonus. If one feels like adding a rad or a gpu, he can. It's extremely practical for a lot of people. After a few years of usage the coolant can be changed too, and that's a big thing imho. The other "closed loops" would just have to be discarded.

Well, Got it home, Installed it and it wouldnt even turn on, Took it back and got an H100i as he didn't have any more H320's.
Installed the H100i and it works fine.
I think it's a sign, Stick with what you know ^_^

Did you install it correctly?:p

lol ^_^

I read on the swiftech forums about a large amount of issues, I think it's going to be Corsair from here on out.
Should I invest in the SP fans ? I know the fans that come with the H100i are SP fans but apart from the rings and rubber dampeners is there any difference ?

I think the specs of the fans are the same as the SPs, though I don't know if they're the quiet edition or performance edition fans; I have a feeling they're the quiet ones.

The coloured rings look sexy, it's worth buying them just for the better looks in my opinion ;)

Besides they spin faster than the PE? Nope:p
I would try to get some Silverstone AP123s because they are cheaper and probably more quiet.

I'll get 2 SP 120MM Performance Editions and paint the 2 fan rings emerald green to go with my rig colours :)

Thanks for the info but I'll stick with Corsair for the time being I think ^_^

The fans that come with the H100i are PWM and the regular SP120s are not. There are PWM versions available if you really want them though :)

Aye, gotta match all that Razer gear ;)
