No it won't - unless you want dual core optimisations (dual thread the program).

It seems a natrural progression for any benchmarking software to be re-programmed (or patched) to enable the dual core fraternity to get the full use of their hardware in benching.

It is inevitable.

Agreed it would be the sensible progression but it is not *necessary* for new CPUs.

I see you mean any processor can be run new or old?

Whereas I was saying it would be good for it to be patched to take advantage opf todays multithreading beauties.

It's a good point, agreed, but I don't think it makes too much difference. Seeing as it's a purely logical calculation if it were properly dual threaded then the time would be exactly halved (assuming both cores equally unloaded). So instead of getting someone to reencode it you could just halve your time.

Admittedly it would be good to see though. I suppose atm most X2ers run SPi on one core while running all the background windows stuff on t'other?

Surely that would mean the dual cores would have a HUGE advantage - it'd be like running two processors together against one...

Saying that, I guess they'll all go dual core soon enough - I'm waiting to see the results of that new mobile dual core, especially after the results the Sonoma achieved
