ive spent a good part of the last 4 hours hunting around for information on this, does anyone know what (if any) winchesters weeks are ok with subzero temps, and which ones dont like subzero temps?

i plan on getting a mach2 GT, but i need to first make sure my cpu is going to be ok with it (even though i would just sell my cpu and get another if it didnt work)

the winchester i have the at momment is a week 37, anyone know of a success rate with these?

Loool best advise mate do a search in xtremesystems forum under the amd section but it would depend on what mob you are using but I dont think it will work subzero get a newcastle they work no probs

fatty i had a look through XS and it appeared to be hit and miss, the board ill be using it with is the DFI nforce 4

cheers harry ill have a read through :)

for some reason it seems to be the mobo you use rather than the chip

ah right, so im going to have to look into how people are doing with the dfi nforce4 board then :) this gets more and more confusing my the minute lol

DFI NForce3 or Nforce4?

Nforce 4 has no such problems, sub zero and winnies go hand in hand with this chipset.

I would hazard a guess that NF3 boards run well as long as you have the latest BIOS before installing.

One of the things I did (as I was worrying as much as anyone else about sub-zero winnies) is that I set the MACHII to Boot at zero degrees for first few times, just to be safe. Of coure you can overrride the start uo yourself to make sure you boot above zero degrees.

Boots fine at -30 now (after steadily reducing the 'start up' temps).

Good luck and dont forget to post your experiences here.

Cheers

its the dfi nforce 4 ive orderd maverick, thats some good news there BUT.....

i asked one guy at DFI and he said as far as he knows its a problem with the processors themselves and not the chips

im getting mixed messages from everywhere i go (although being a guy that works for DFI hes supposed to say that lol)

im presuming its mainly a matter of luck tbh

DFI Sli Nforce Board is the way to go, out the box BIOS allows 1:1 1t memory timings up up to and beyond 275mhz (Asus on 1004.001 BIOS craps out at 240).

No need to volt mod for DIMM volts either. Just hope that the Sli config is as good as the ASUS.

The overclocking potential difference between the two at present is great enough to justify the extra £45 purchase price.

In saying all that I feel it's only a matter of time (sooner rather than later I hope) before a suitable ASUS BIOS update solves all fo my woes. Time wil tel but the clock is ticking and I can only hold off the Lanparty desire for so long!!

Just installed a prommie on my DFI NF4 MB, with a 3500+ 0441 winnie - no boot. Replaced with a N/C 3500+, and all is OK - FYI!

im looking EVERYWHERE for a newcastle core 3500 at the momment i cant find any on forum sales or in shops, the only newcastles are stupidly expensive 3800s :( HELP! lol
