Arma 3
Dayz standalone
Hearts of Iron IV should be on your testing list :)
Nice AIO's btw

Like i said on faceache i think x99 is a good base for bench marking off..
i saw people complaining that they dont have x99 and would like to see more common cpu's in use.. But as its GPU bench tests then that does not matter at all..
just use what you can to make sure the gpu(s) isn't/are not bottle necked in any way, and that is all that matters the performance per gpu is all that is relevant, and potentially hindering a gpu would defeat the point...

i could bench a whole load of gpus on a pentium d and they wouldnt seem to be that much difference to them. but on a decent system the difference may be significant.

Hey Tom whilst most people would generally say 6700K I think the 6850K is a modest CPU that most could afford in the X99 platform to use as you were thinking for the new GPU test build as it's not too extreme one way or the other.
And must say I'm looking forward to the next batch of reviews and THANKS for all the time and effort you put in for us giving us the most comprehensive reviews so we can make informed decisions.

Has to be X99. Take off and nuke the entire site from orbit - It's the only way to be sure.

What's the reason for discounting the 6900K in favour of the 6850?

Arma3 is terribad for CPU utilisation, I'd like to see such a game used for benching but sadly it's just awful.

Its alot better now. Its just a horribly intensive game in general. They have fixed the cpu core usage massively. Still some way to go but with the new expansion they'll probably hit the nail on the head.

Main issue though is that it is horribly awkward to bench imo.

I'd definitely go with X99 for the test rig. I work in quality control so I know how important it is to remove as many variables and restrictions as possible when testing. We want to see just how good the GPU's are in a perfect situation, from that we can infer the limitations we'll see from understanding our own rigs.

As for games, I'd like to see Fallout 4 somehow. It's one of those games that sees huge FPS dips in certain locations. It'd be interesting to see how newer hardware handles that.

Fallout 4 is a hard game to bench, especially with the amount of patches that Bethesda releases. Would require too much retesting.

Anymore suggestions for games, please feel free to pop them in this thread.

Indeed it really is unfortunately. I've said it before and I'll say it again, no matter what system you've got, the fps numbers on this game won't be high at all due to poor cpu optimalisation & utilisation. Played some more yesterday and all I got with my system Nyssa was 45-50 fps with some serious drops every now and then when things get intense..

Price tbh. Dont want it to be full retard.

i dont see why not..
if its mostly for benching GPU's then whether ppl can affoard the platform used for testing is irrelivant. all that matters is the difference between the cards on the platform.
I guess you could argue a 5% difference on that platform would not exist on a lesser system. but the card is still 5% different and thats all that matters when you are just comparing cards.
