There must be some people on the forums that like to cook...

Since im off to uni, im looking for a bit of extra guidance.

what im after is a few VERY EASY, VERY CHEAP, meals that use VERY FEW ingredients.

im not after a meal which includes loads of spices to gain a great taste, i just want a few simple ideas that requires little effort, and involves ingredients that i will probably have around the house.

for example, i have things like..

chicken breast stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon...

corned beef hash...

chile con carne, lasagne etc

u get the idea, although i can probably cook more advanced things, im looking for things that i will realistically not mind cooking on the fly.

help me out guys!

we have similar, but id like some ideas for actual meals, not so much processed food because im pretty sure i can cook that...after all its either, add hot water, or put in mircrowave :p

O M G !

Any1 out there remember "Get Stuffed" from the 90s ?

10-15 studenty based mini funded program on exactly what u`r talking about.

They`d actually take monies into local shops, buy the stuff and then show the cooking and end result.

Has to be a website on it....

EDIT: O M G ! x2 http://www.getstuffed.info/

There are some good books in bookshops etc. offering recipes for "quick lifestyles" etc. which i found have been good. In my food tech i used one of these, i finished a lot quicker than everyone else but results were still...exquisite

Jeez, it`s all come flooding back...

ITV Thursday nights (Sky was but a glimmer in some1`s eye.. only 4/5 channels)

The Equalizer

Get Stuffed

James Whale

Prisoner Cell Block H

.. then something @ 2am.. can`t remember..

get saussages, wrap em with bacon, with cheese in the middle, nice...

also, big mushrooms, filled with cheese, on toast is nice..

tinned campbels tomato soup, with some creem cheese, on pasta is nice too, when all mixed up with some garlic bread

or there's just bottles of curry, with rice, cant be that hard to make i dont think..

some nice suggestions there mate, but i can make my own curry :)

for a very very very simple and quick meal just take a tortilla shell, put cheese or w/e you want on it, put another shell on top and heat it up. Bam instant quesadilla goodness.

dont like eggs that much :(

prob because my bro is allergic to them, so every time he eats them he chucks up, doesnt make me feel to great about em :(

beans on toast, (better for you than you think)

:P

Loads of variations to that too. One of my faves was cheeze grilled on top of it.

If u do get around to liking eggs....

Used to like buttering & marmiteing bread, soaking it in beaten egg and frying it. ugh

what the hell is pesto, ive never actually had it.

matt, tell me how to cook it please :)

and no, i chose self catered because i eat at odd times and im pretty competent with my cooking :) besides its more sociable aswell.

Pesto is a mixture of basil, olive oil, pine nuts, garlic, parmesan and salt and pepper. Its lush on loads of foods and esp with pasta.

Cook chicken, cook onion, cook pasta, add veg to taste...mix with some pesto and heat a bit and serve, preferably with some parmesan or cheddar cheese :p
