Striker II...issues

tried to boot my pc the other day and it wouldnt boot properly, can't remember the exact error im afraid. Something to do with CMOS defaults not loading.

So i used the CMOS reset button on the back and rebooted and off it went fine.

However Ive just noticed that my two hard drives that were in Raid 1 are now both showing in windows....I didnt set the raid up (pcspecialist.co.uk) as when I got the pc I was even more n00by compared to you guys than I am now...but Im presuming this means the drives are no longer in raid...theyre showing up as different amounts of disk space used as well. 256gb compared to 258gb on the second drive..

what the crackers happened /ive done?!

maybe because you reseted the mobo it dont recognizes the raid anymore (maybe because the mobo was on a different configuration when the raid was made)that could be one of the answers.

If you reset the bios then all the settings will return to defaults. And it doesn't default to RAID.

Check to see if they saved the settings somewhere on the BIOS, if not then ring them up and ask what they had it set at.

Or of course wait around a bit and I'm sure a Striker expert will be along shortly.

Raid1 means that you have(should) have 2 almost identical disks. The 2gb difference can be files that aren't syncronised yet(Or wasn't at the time the raid broke/you resetted the BIOS). It should be fine to enter the BIOS and set the raid settings back to raid1 without any issues. There will be extended writing to the disks until they are synced again, but that's the way it is. Do a full backup of important files to another disk before you do it just in case :).

question: because the drives are no longer in raid 1...if i delete the data on one can i just use them as two normal drives again? the raid was frankly a mistake and waste of time in the first place..

excellent, didnt want to have to format both and rebuild anyways, and people said no way to remove raid 1 without doing that. Well this has worked out nicely :)
