Strange pc issue

Hello guys,

I have a very strange issue, I never ever encountered something quite like this before. When i turn on my pc. . .it doesn't do anything. I press a power button , blue led flashes up for a second [its a power led] but then nothing, no hard drive working or fan spinning.

I have to wait a while and try again. . .and again. It usually takes 2-3 times to actually turn the rig on. THe power Led responds to presses of powah button so i am kinda sure the button works properly, but not sure what isn't, especially because rig isn't made from the cheapest possible components. . .

Once the pc is running, no issues whatsoever.

As above, you should start with the basics and move forward from there. You need to rule out each component in turn.

What happens when you short the pins on the motherboard to turn your PC on? If the PC turns on immediately via this method, the issue is probably with the front panel connector for the power switch.

THis year i had no upgrade to my pc at all. Nothing changed. . . . bios is fairly recent, 1 version below the latest and the latest dont do anything except support for some new hardware etc.

WHen i press and hold power button the power led light up for the entire period so, if there was any issue with that the led would not behave normally.

I know Intel rigs dont start up immediately . .. they always do something for 2 seconds after pushing power until they finally start booting properly. . .but my pc seems to not go to that phase.

Also this issue appears ONLY on cold start. . . hmmm. . . Intel Diesel Inside xD

When did the problem start? If you haven't changed anything, you'll have to try and determine the component(s) causing the issue by testing each individual part. Also, double check your connections if you haven't already.

I have this exact same problem...

When I 'cold boot' from a dodgy shutdown I'm left running with only 1 core... My motherboard is dodgy or the bios chip needs replacing...

I just clear the CMOS whenever it doesn't boot or turn it off and wait 5 minutes.

I normally turned my PC on at the start of the day and turn it off at the end of the day leaving it off for a good 7-12 hours overnight while I sleep... then when I go to turn it on again it works fine.. When this pattern is disrupted then I have to go clearing the CMOS and turning the PSU off etc to get it to boot...
