Stoned TJ07 - Project Blood SHOT

Right,

now I am struggling choosing the hardware bois:

Firstly, this article really got my attention and i am indeed concerning on buying the Asus Maximus III Formula.

I had a chat with Lee from Scan UK and i asked him if he could test the board before shipping it to me, regarding that i am living in brazil now, and it would be an incredible PITA in case i had a faulty board and had to RMA it, likewise with the Striker II Extreme which i had to RMA 3 TIMES , yes that right!

Lee said that i would not be possible:

"Unfortunately we're not in a position to test hardware prior to shipping at this time of year. All of the goods are fresh stock and shouldn't prove troublesome. I completely appreciate that you're in a unique situation, however we do not have the facility to test goods prior to shipping."

Therefore i asked Lee if at least they could check the stock batch version, and that´s the reply:

"This is totally going to seem like we're being unhelpful, but your requests just cannot be met I'm afraid. Reason being is that we have mixed stock on the shelf from various suppliers, from varying batches. I have no way of guaranteeing a specific revision. These types of issues normally arise with new technology and it's only due to your situation that this would cause a problem, otherwise if the board were to fail you know that we would replace this for you. The last time we ordered any of these was the 16th Nov - these were delivered the following day but as I previously mentioned, I have mixed stock on the shelf and no way to guarantee what revision you would receive. Not all of our stock is kept nearby, often we'll dispatch from differing warehouses. This means that even if I did check a motherboard - the guys who pick and dispatch the orders are likely to choose an entirely different board."

Now what do i do?

Is it still safe to buy it, not knowing if the boards in stock comes from a newer batch?

Should i buy from somewhere else from someone who has a smaller shop and would be able to give a superior support?

What do you guys think?

...continuing: :yumyum:

Intel Core i7 860 2.8GHz
Seems a good choice in case i go with the asus

now i am really struggling to choose memory kit, because i am not really sure what will i benefit the most REMEMBERING that my focus ain´t gaming at all.

My focus is to have a good motherboard that will enable me to setup a good workstation as well as be able to fold as much as possible when idle.

What would benefit me most? XMP or DHX ???

What other memory should i really consider?

OCZ?

Any other suggestions???

Guys, please help me out brake up this nut! I am stuck

The picture above is after our Core i7 870 (LGA-1156) processor was overclocked up to 5.19GHz using our cascade with a -102° Celsius evaporator head temperature under full-load...

...However, none of the boards have developed pin problems so we feel very safe in saying that any problems will probably occur only in extreme overclocking scenarios.

Yeah....

I know that, but i am still concerned as i am not very lucky from bnew boards from stock, they always endup having to be RMA several times before it fully works, like it happened before with the striker II extreme, it was like a year later i bought all the gear, and i felt bad cause the technology was way ahead a year after, it kind of suks to be a year behind when u just bought brand new stuff and a year RMAing stuff aint cool, and specially from Brazil now, not gonna be nice at all!

To avoid a long range RMA you could ask one of the members here to test it first. It will not protect you against damage from shipping overseas or OC damage, but at least you won't have a DOA.

Question now would be who? :wiggle:

My plan was to get it shipped to my GF´s house in UK cause shes coming to live with me in the end of the year, and she will have to bring it to me on the hand luggage to avoid ping pong with the soo precious, or else :awhip:

need help!!!!!!

Would anyone consider monkey7's idea to receive the board for me? Does anyone have an i5/i7 1156 and a spare gpu to test the board?

And please help me out figure out what memory would be best, please!

i would say Tom, but he's busy as hell, maybe Kemp, or Jim? Try webbo, hes doing alot of reviews on things lately....

As for hardware, personal choice really, depends on the money side of things, and what you want to do, im sticking with 775 atm, makes sense...i think XD

got deleted for reasons beyond my control dude but perfectly good reasons. Find someone willing....

Gotta be someone...make a new thread somewhere. or just take the risk dude and get it shipped to you. Be EXTRA gentle though and make sure its all insured...personally, id get a refund and go with ebuyer as the pay for postage back.

Weird, very weird, i dont see a reason why your reply was deleted, neither i see good reasons, but nevermind.

Probably will have to go to another forum, its being quite difficult to make friends here. Thanks Socks!

quick update:

So for now, i think i will be going X58, due to the benefits i will get from tripple channel and pci-e lanes.

So if anyone got a spare EVGA 3-way Sli classified, let me know!

Here are some better shots of the cpu block. One of the hexa head screws came busted from performance-pcs, and since i am in brazil i think i am going to have to drill though so i can remove the busted screw. (Plan is to make a new mounting plate btw.)
