stock or air cooler

I was lucky enough and got some money back dated (over paid tax)
I bought my self the i5 4440 locked at 3.3ghz (none k) and a silverstone raven rx01 itx I was wondering if I should buy a low profile cooler or stick with the stock cooler ?....
I was eyeing up noctuas Low profile with 92mm fan nice and simple

any suggestions

I would recommend a different cooler indeed, those noctua's are pretty good and are so much more quiet then the intel stock cooler.

Seeing as your restricted to low profile and you'll not be OC'ing with the none K i5 you could look at the Noctua NH-L9a or maybe the Scythe Shuriken

it was the noctua nh-l9a I was looking at, nice and simple design ..plus i have a 120mm fan blowing directly down on the cpu/cooler and ram

I always used to use top down coolers especially ones that also cool the surrounding mosfets you get bigger benefits if you have a clear path through the case to vent the warm air otherwise all you end up with is a hot case.

If it's not going to be overclocked I wouldn't bother spending the money on a cooler put it towards improving something else that you need

I have to agree with Excalabur... if you are going to OC it - dont buy another cooler. I would pop it in as is... then run some test to see what the temps sit at. I bet it will be fine. Upgrade something else instead. Maybe a new case so you dont need to stick to low profile?

Count me in as well saying you don't need a new cooler. If you're not going to be overclocking then an aftermarket cooler is kinda pointless as the stocker will work just fine for stock duty. Save your money and put it towards something that you'll benefit more from like a GPU upgrade or SSD or something like that.

You do need a new cooler. I've done a build with that case and the stock cooler is the wrong design for it.You need a cooler that exhausts the air out of the case, not just chucks it out everywhere. Silverstone actually make the best cooler for it. The only thing is that said cooler is expensive. well, £45 but in all honesty you don't want a rig that is as loud as a console now, do you?
