sticker on CPU

hey everyone, just got a new i7 2600k, and it has a sticker on the back of it (where the pins are), is it safe to remove it?

Did you buy that from a shop because that is a retarded place to put a sticker on a CPU. You need to get that off and any of the sticky stuff it leaves on it, be careful when you do it though.

What **** puts a sticker on the bottom of a CPU?

I've seen a lot of retailers do this, especially OEM CPUs. I've even seen some large PC companies put a sticker on each and every part in the system. Pain in the butt to be honest.

To OP, was this a retail CPU with box, manual, and stock heatsink or was it a tray CPU, basically only in a small plastic case?

must be an oem cpu that imo, silver you want to go back to that shop and shout swear words at the fool who put that sticker there mate. good job you had enough sense to ask as im sure not everybody would

well i got the whole system from a friend who owns a PC shop, and yeah the CPU was tray, only in a plastic holder.

BTW what is OEM?

any way i already put all the PC together, CPU is already ocerclocked at 4400, just ran an 8 hour prime95 test with no errors.

Tell your friend he should sticker the other side of the CPU as its much easier to clean the big flat metal side than the side with all the resistors on it :/

OEM if for manufacturers and system builders, also used to be called brown box back in the day as they come in plain boxes not the pretty ones with pictures you see on shelves in pcworld and the likes.
