hi guys :) i purchased a steel series 5h v2 about 4 months ago and last night the right earcup cut out completely. i took it apart (as it is meant to be for travelling etc) and cleaned the contacts. this didn't help either. if i leave them in a certain position it will kick back in but as soon as i move it the noise cuts back out. ive just emailed aria about it and im hoping for a refund. would a corsair 1300/1500 be better?

Gaming headsets are never as good as headphones with a cheap lapel mic.

You're probably better off spending the money on some decent headphones rather than a gaming headset.

Are you using a soundcard or anything?

i've heard that before but i just prefer the ease of having it all in one. nope no soundcard just the onboard on my msi z68a gd55. ive had a bit of a look round on the web and it seems like this is a common problem with these headphones. should i be able to get an exchange for the corsair 1300 or 1500 if i pay the cost difference?

The Corsairs seem a decent choice as far as gaming headsets go...

I'd get the 1300s over the 1500s, just incase you ever do decide to get a soundcard - you'd still be able to use them with the soundcard...

But I'd probably spend a little more and get the Steelseries Siberia V2s or the 7H if you can stretch that far

I don't really fancy another steel series. my friends got the siberia and the mic broke after a few months on that to. wouldnt the 1500's be better due to 7.1 etc?

I'm pretty sure the 7.1 is purely software based.
It's up to you.

Depending on the software of your onboard soundcard you may be able to mimick the 7.1 on the 1300s too.

It's up to you. There won't really be much of a difference between the two headsets - especially for £20...
It's only likely to be software based as it's USB anyway...

I'm sure you'll be happy with whichever you buy - and both will be an improvement over the 5hv2 anyway.

Less of the unexplained negativity, more of the explained negativity! If you have a specific issue with this manufacturer, tell us what it is.

right guys im planning on getting the 1300 as an exchange if its possible to. will i see a decent enough benefit for 20 quid to buy an asus xonar dg?
