I think they'll still let you buy ships with real money after release. In my opinion that is silly considering you have to buy the game but i guess the kickstarter money won't keep the servers running/development team paid forever..

yeah I think I'll wait till release I have other things to throw money at at the minute :P Do post screenshots though, what I've seen so far has had me salivating for sure...

This game is going to be quite demanding as well, considering that we can only currently gage performance on the hanger module,which is closed off and doesn't appear to use finalized textures by the way. This is going to be a game that finally uses as much of your pc as it can get. They've said about how they want to make it demanding but optimized.
 
Downloading the screenshots now as well, for some reason its causing my browser to lag... Oh you have to love Firefox sometimes.
