Ssd?

Hey guys,

So I'm in the process of changing my PC a bit and will be building it down to a smaller case as it's an mini ITX motherboard in an mATX case.

I have 2 SSDs, although I need a 3rd one for the faster loading times on the smaller ITX PC... and not sure which one to get or which one is seemed "good" etc.

The ones, I've found so far are:

Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB
Crucial BX100 SSD 250GB
OCZ Arc 100 240GB
Kingston HyperX 3K 240GB
HyperX Fury SSD 240GB
Crucial MX100 SSD 256GB
Corsair SSD Force Series LS 240GB

Anyone that you would recommend over the other?... as they are pretty much in the same price range, I wanted to ask you for your opinions on this etc.

Thanks,
Chrazey

samsung 540 evo, 250gb. one of best ssd's out there in terms of performance and reliability.

also forget about v300 and mx100 and bx100, v300 is probably cheapest ssd out there atm and are by no means good, im sure there are better usb sticks out there. crucial even though their ram is somewhat decent, their ssd's are very unreliable.

stick to corsair, samung and hyperx

Do not agree with the Samsung drive suggestion tbh. I would've a month ago, but the 840 Evos have a degradation problem that was supposed to be fixed with a firmware update, but it didn't help.

Then the other week Samsung released a firmware update for the 850 series which completely bricked SSDs :')

Safe to say they're not my go-to brand for SSDs at this point. I myself own an 830 for the laptop though, which is fine. For my main build there's a 256GB MX100 in there which is awesome. PC boots in 12 seconds flat and that is including 2 manual bits (bootloader and windows login). It also gives you more capacity over the others and nearly maxes out Sata III speeds anyway.

The HyperX is by far the prettiest drive on your shortlist while having all the required credentials so that gets an instavote from me. I've had a Force LX (my mum has it now) and that was great for the price. Neutron XT's are also very sexy and extremely fast but probably come at a bit of a premium.

I agree with you JR on that the HyperX is the prettiest, but is it any good and is it reliable?... ie, not any issues with it, like Feronix described with Samsungs drives.

It's definitely fast and I don't think there are any serious known issues. They faired well in the SSD endurance test if that means anything, I like all of mine. I haven't had any issues with SSD's really my original Force 3 went a bit wonky but Corsair fixed it pretty quickly with a firmware update.

Okay fair enough... I knew that you had a HyperX SSD, hence why I considered it.
Do you happen to have the 3K one or do you have any other?, I may think that the HyperX one in my list might be one of the cheapest ones as well... so might opt for that one.

I have a 3K 120GB, 3K 240GB, Neutron XT 240GB and 2x Neutron GTX 240GB's. The XT is fastest of the lot and the most black and red but the 3K's are the best looking.

Aye, it does look pretty... but I'm not after the fastest one, or the most premium one here.

I'm after something that is considered good, reliable, isn't the slowest on the market, but gets the job done and at a good price.

(Ie, out of subject... but what RAT mice is that?...)

***EDIT/UPDATE*** - What do you guys think regarding these SSDs then?, these ones are the cheapest in relation to their capacity, although not sure about their reliability?...

Well looks aren't that high of an priority, as it will be completely inside a box and not visible at all... only "performance", reliability and warranty/support, specially the latter, which is my #1 concern.

It's a Kingston product and they have been in the memory game for a long time so it will be reliable, it has 500 read and writes so whats not to like

You should be happy with the Kingston drive

Yeah?... not sure wether to put it into my rig and then take my Samsung 840 Pro 256GB into the Mini PC.
My Samsung is faster and has better IOPS lols :p

What do you guys think?...

I have a Kingston V300 120gb SSD. Havnt had a problem with it sofar - can recommend it. Fast boots and high readwrite speeds (compared to my previous HDD's atleast). I went with it cause its bang for buck. Cheap drives that provide the buyer with what they want. (most of the time)
