SSD Question

Hi,

So a bit of a noob question...

I installed a plextor 64gb SSD today (which is awesome!) windows installed in around 10 mins and all was great. However when i went to see if the TRIM command was active, when the command screenn came on it instantly shot back off so i couldnt see what it said.

Is there any reason for this?

Also the plextor utility says that this ssd i have got is in bad health even though i only ordered it yesterday!

Its currently set up in a sata 2 port, in AHCI mode and im currently seeing 235mb/s read and 168mb/s write in crystal disk mark. Page file has been moved from c to my HDD. I have looked in defragment and it doesnt show my ssd as scheduled for defrag (which is a good thing??)

Anyone got any ideas whats happening?:(

I just want to see if the TRIM command is active to put my mind at rest.

Any help welcome

open the command screen by typing cmd first, then type your command in the window

Type "cmd" in the start menu and open "Command Prompt". Type "fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify" in without the quotations. You should then see "DisableDeleteNotify = 0" which means TRIM is enabled.

Sata 2? Dude your not giving the ssd a chance lol:)
Do as stated above and all shall be good except
NEVER defrag a ssd, only hard drives.

Thanks for that guys. I was never intending to defrag the ssd just thought it my indicate whether the ssd was set up correct as by default win 7 disables when a ssd is present?

I knew about the display delete notify command just didnt think to run cmd.exe before hand!

Just basically dragged my 775 pc out the cupboard and using as a sage system only. As it only runs Sage 50 accounts i need fast i/o not processing power so my e8500 and 4gb ddr2 with this plextor 64gb ssd is awesome for it.

Would you say 235mb/s read and 168mb/s write is ok then given that its running sata 2 not 3?

Anyone else got an office based PC with an ssd??
