SSD or 8Gb ram

Will someone explain the thing Kingston did with the press?

I've legit only had about two or three die on me out of around 60ish office PCs.

Kingston and PNY both were guilty of Bait & switch with the NAND controllers they used in their drives, switching out synchronous to asynchronous NAND and charging the same.. naughty naughty.

Ah right. Suprised Kingston did that tbh.

Welp, still going to recommend the SSD anyway.

I've got 4 Kingston SSD's 2 are the same as what your looking at, and have had no issues at all. If you can get your parents to push for the bigger one, it will be faster again, as ssd's get bigger they also get faster.

This is the way I look at it with SSD's and sustainability

80GB Windows & Drivers
120GB Windows, Drivers, Boot programs <<<< What you have
240GB Windows, Drivers, Boot programs, Software (other than games) that you use most often such as web browsers, Office, computer monitoring software
500GB Windows, Drivers, Boot programs, Software used most, Games use play most
1TB Windows, Drivers, Boot programs, All Software, ALL Games, Windows Library

I've always used this method and it has always been very sustainable for me if anything updated and or got bigger in size INCLUDING Windows updates AND new Windows OS. If you meet any of these and don't want to meet anything else just get the RAM. Personally I would just get another 120GB and put them in RAID 0.

Have you considered the mx100,price is nearly the same.
Will look a that.

Get the ssd man, best upgrade you can get. with additional ram you will not notice any particular improvement, but with an ssd, everything is faster. My 450eu laptop with 4gb ram and a samsung evo 250gb is faster than any 1000eu laptop running 16gb ram and a mechanical drive for general use, nuff said.
Mind made up

Yep as others have said go the SSD, Sandisk, Kingston, Corsair, Samsung or Crucial all are good so just get the best you can afford
thanks

trust me it is slow. :)
So it gets faster?:D

I'm looking at the 240gb or 500gb just for OS

240GB and 500GB would be a waste if you're just putting as OS on it. That's like getting a GTX 980 and only playing Minecraft.

Yea that's not a or not that's just a fact. You would have about 160GB of empty space on the 240GB. That's just a waste. Get a second 120GB and put them in RAID0. But hell it's your money, waste it how you wish.

No I don't have money to waste just thought of getting the best one that my parents will buy and the 240Gb is on sale now so maybe I just go with that and upgrade my ram if I should do video editing next year

I use 2 240GB in RAID0 in my system and it is perfect for Windows, Boot programs, and mission critical Applications I use most and I still have 80GB of free space for updates and Windows 10.

I would go with the 120GB but the 240gb is R800 more and my daddy only said R1 000 so I'll just use my other savings and get the 240GB. Like u said 120GB is enough

Get a second 120GB and go RAID0. If you're a performance junkie like me. But 120GB is more than enough for Windows and a few boot applications such as AV.

i'd say go for the 240 if its on sale like you said and you got the permission. Going RAID0 might be nice but all raid formations got their disadvantages too

Raid0 is the most useless thing for ssd's
what makes a ssd fast are the access times which get destroyed by your generic software raid

I can always add another one when I have money

I didn't Raid anything before so I don't know and I don't know what it is

Here is what space is taken up in a typical Windows 8.1 install. Look how much BF4 dwarfs Windows in space.
