SSD cloning software

Yeah I need some good cloning software, my pc forgot I had raid for some reason and shit me up when it said I didn't have a boot device!

Is it cloning for your boot drive that youu want or just good backup software?

I posted this on another forums and most people said acronis so I’ve downloaded the trial version and ill clone my drive when I get round to it.

Im cloning my boot drive so i dont have to reinstall windows on my new ssd

If you are cloning from a HDD to a SSD then you should really be doing an clean install anyway mate.

You'll probably find that if you cloning your HDD onto a SSD that the partition will not be correctly alligned. If you open up AS SSD the status in the top left will say BAD.

You can allign it later which is what I've done in the past.

My current boot drive is a Intel x25 40gb and I’m cloning the data then putting it on a ocz agility 3 120gb.

Yeah I have definitely heard of acronis being good, but I would definitely suggest a fresh install, it will just be better in the long run. Plus it will be a hassle to then adjust the partition size for your new ssd.

I realize that Windows 7 automatically aligns the partitions on an SSD drive just fine, I also realize that you should always do a clean install on an SSD, BUT just for conversation, could you clone your boot image onto two separate SSDs on RAID 0? or does it invite too many complications? Sorry didnt mean to hijack this but Its related?

I use Acronis and can attest it is awesome. I have gone hdd to ssd and ssd to hdd without a hitch.
