Speedfan: oscillating fan speed

I just downloaded Speedfan 4.49 for the first time in years, hoping to be able to control 3 new GentleTyphoon AP14 radiator fans based on BOTH my cpu and gpu temp - entirely possible using the latest version of Speedfan.

At the moment my loop is in pieces on the floor here so as a test I tried controlling my standard Intel CPU heatsink fan using a Speedfan 'Advanced Fan Control':

I thought this was working as intended because any increase in the load on CPU or GPU results in the fan speed increasing as I wanted, however there is a problem...

Over the course of around half an hour, at idle, I produced this fan speed chart:

These are the associated temps for the same period:

As you can see, there is a badly oscillating fan speed being produced by Speedfan at idle. I don't get this with the Gigabyte Smart Fan application that came with my motherboard, but then I don't get the ability to control fan speed based on two temps with it either :(

Does anyone here have experience with resolving this kind of problem in Speedfan?

My complete setup (or will be once the loop is back together):

  • PSU: Antec HCG620
  • Mobo: Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H
  • CPU: Intel 4770K
  • GPU: Sapphire 7970 Ghz Edition
  • Storage: Samsung 840 SSD + 3 x HDDs
  • Case Fans: 2 x Scythe SlipStream 800s
  • Radiator Fans: 3 x GentleTyphoon AP14s
  • Radiator: Thermochill PA120.3
  • Pump / Res: Laing D5 with XSPC reservoir top
  • Blocks: YBris Cooling 'Black Sun' on both GPU & CPU

I had the same kind of a problem. The CPU fan went constantly up and slowly down. I just uninstalled it, restarted PC and then reinstalled it. Work perfectly fine now.^_^

Yeah I eventually managed to resolve the problem in, I think, the same manner. Not sure why it was doing this to start with, but all is now fine :)
