sup

my pc is shop bought and its now really slow and is annoying the hell out of me and was wondering if theres any way i can speed it up for free? coz my new rig wont be finished for ages.

if you need anymore info ile give you it if i know how to get it;)

edit: i forgot the bios seems locked also as the cpu miltiplier etc are dimmed out.

i use ccleaner on a regular basis as well and i dont know what "temp1" is on speedfan, when i switched from a previous version to 4.24 it picked up temp1

temp1 is always at 22c as well, kempy says temp1 is usually cpu temp but surely 22c is too low and its weird its sticking on 22c?

cheers.

Hmm weird. Download ITE Smart guardian or whatever monitoring rool your motherboard should use. You should have loads more temps than that :)

Hi raging-savage :wavey:

I have an MSI 875P NEO motherboard, the bundled monitoring software for MSI is core-centre. MSI's temp readings are widely known to be innacurate, as are a few other mobo manufacturers. It all comes down to the diode reading the voltage underneath the CPU...there may be a bios update for that motherboard but you may be searching for a while.

I can't find whether core-centre supports your mobo though, and I'm not sure about PC alert either. I'll keep diggin for ya mate :)

As for the locked multiplier, it's an Intel...you gotta live with it I'm afraid. Even AMD have locked multipliers, they don't trust us clockers. Can you tell me what kind of winbond chip it's reading off in the speedfan info, then I can tell you what it's reading? Kemp is right as well in saying that temp 1 is usually CPU, I'd say that it's just the typical MSI temp reading bug.

thanks pv but core centre does not support my mobo

chat more on irc ;)

cheers.

some more screens for ya...

Ok mate, I forgot to ask....who actually built your PC. Some larger OEM computer builders often put different bios's in the board so people buying their pc's cannot play with them :( .

Plus, as this is a P4 board with PC133 SDRAM you will never reach DDR/RDRAM levels of performance no matter how much you overclock it. The new compy completion date, might have to be brought forward. :)

Ah there you have it, I used to be a member at MSI forum and Medion came up quite often, due to the problem I posted about previously. They use their own bios, which is in turn different from MSI's AMI or Phoenix versions, just to prevent users dabbling...bastards :( Yeah I know what it's like with funds mate, just having a little joke, no offense intended :)
