SP2500's with Essence STX and Headphones

So, I've been perplexed in how I'll be able to setup my audio once I do get it. Since I don't want any surprises, I've been trying to look up information on how sound cards can connect to the front-panel connectors but it isn't generally a great idea, because of shielding and whatnot. (not entirely sure how it works) Anyways, I do want to purchase the SP2500's and they've been generally regarded as being great for gaming, so my initial plans were buying them with an Essence STX. However, I'm also switching out headphones because my left ear is going out slowly on the ones I have now and I plan on buying the Beyerdynamic DT 770's. From what I can see on the sound card, it has those RCA red and white connections... a headphones line-in and a SPDIF out. Do the SP2500's connect to the SPDIF out? That would be ideal since I'd want my headphones to connect to the headphones and line-in with ps3... and the rca connections with my 360... (i don't have monitors with speakers)
If not, will the sound come out as good as if I plugged in the headphones through the front-panel connectors or the headphones plugin in the remote for the SP2500's?

I'm pretty sure the line in is just for a microphone.
No idea how you'd get it to work with a PS3 and xbox?

As for the front panel, sound cards have front panel connectors on them for that, so you plug the front panel cable directly into the soundcard, rather than the motherboard.

You'd connect the SP2500s to the RCA out - not sure if they'd work through optical or not.
I think if you wanted to connect your PS3 and xbox to the speakers, you'd need to bypass the soundcard, and just connect them straight to a headphone out socket on the TV.

At the moment, I have my ps3 connected to the line-in on the motherboard, then the sound can be played through either my headset or speakers. The line-in on the motherboard is different from the sound card?

So there wouldn't be any difference between connecting it directly and using the front-panel connection?

No TV, as of now, unfortunately.
That's why i'm using this odd setup for audio.
I have two monitors with no audio input or output.

to get a soundcard to work properly you have to completely disable onboard audio. You can use the line in / mic in on the STX to input sound, but I'm not sure how great it will be as it's really designed for mic's from what I can tell.

So I just assume that I can just plug in the speakers to the back and headphones in the front and everything should work fine, I suppose.

personally if you have the cable length i'd plug the cans in the back in the headphone out port.

Actually the line in on the stx works pretty good , I have my portable sat. plugged into it and it sounds ok to me. The stx has the 2 rca jacks with the splitter to a 1/8 mini plug for your speakers , a headphone jack and a line in jack . And the front panel plugs into the top of the card , although I haven't tried it , you could probably plug a set of speakers in the FP headphone jack .
