I have had new phone for a couple of weeks, the Xperia Z1 to be more precise, & it had an update last week, new kit kat.. was all dandy till I got a call & it was ringing out of its earpiece of playing music out of its earpiece, now bear in mind that its a new phone I went mental at o2 thinking it was a faulty phone this is my third one previously had a tick when calling so it went back! then the earpiece problem! it started doing it again today I rely heavily on my phone being hearable 24/7 for work purposes.. went absolutely spas at 02 again they arranged for a fourth one to be sent.. I decide to live chat Sony & blame them.. low & behold

ME: Xperia Z1 Black, O2

Sony: Thank you, how can I help you today?

ME: You have released kit kat, for this device, upon updating the software it interferes with the sound settings some what drastically, I have sent back 2 phones because of this, its not the phones, after the update, it will play music/ringtones ect out of the earpiece and not the speaker, it takes several attempts to actually get it to play out of the loudspeaker

ME: as you can imagine I cant hear the phone ringing, it will also refuse to play using the headphone port on some occasions but not as often or persistently as the loudspeaker or earpiece

Sony: I am sorry to hear that has been the case, ****. We have identified this issue on some units of these models and measures have been taken to swiftly deliver a solution for our users. A fix for the issues will be included in a new software release that will start rolling out shortly, with exact availability and timing varying by operator and market.

ME: oh thank god its not just me

ME: Have you let the operators know? as I can assume that a lot of people are going to be sending there phones back?

Sony: This is something that is being looked into, I do apologise for any inconvenience this has caused you. I would advise waiting for a notification on your handset as you will be notified once this update is available for your specific handset.

ME: ok

why couldn't Sony relay this? surely people are going to be sending there phones back?

I have since contacted o2 & given them the entire chat transcript, i cancelled the exchange! i will use my old phone until this. is resolved but its really annoyed me for some reason!!! XD

see what happens is manufacturers get the update, then they add their apps (bloatware) then they "test" the update on their network and then finally released to customers.

by now google has already released updates to android and they process starts over.

i believe it's north Korea that have banned bloatware added by carriers, hopefull the EU follows suit.

EU have already voted to remove roaming charges which comes into effect next june i believe.

I'm not happy with Sony right now either. The Xperia Z is one of if not the best handset I have ever owned but lately when you plug the charger in it shows up that it's charging on screen and with the notification light, but then to get a pop-up saying the battery is draining faster than it is charging, it's really pissing me off now.

I don't know what to do, I'm sick of mobile phones, they all seem to develop some bollocks problem only months into a contract.

It still does it dude, it's locked now and just did the noise to let me know it's not charging.

Huh don't know what you mean? It's supposed to be charging through it's official original power socket plug to USB.

how many amps does the usb socket output that youre charging your phone from?

For example, if i use my phone charger to charge my tablet, the battery runs out while using it because the charger doesnt output enough amps. if i use a charger that gives out more amps, the tables keeps charging even while being used.

Oh I'm not sure mate, it's just a socket on the wall in work, extension lead plugged into it and then my phone charger connected. It only seems to be recently though, but has done it at home to which it didn't used to.

I'm wondering if their is a bug in the latest Android from Sony?
