I bought these a few days back, and i am very unhappy with the quality of bass.
The Bass is Boomy and hurts the ears, not pleasant bass at all.
The Creative inspire 2.1 which i have sound better.
Actually i bought these for replacing the creative speakers.
These give so bad Bass, that i have to use my creative speakers. These ones are pretty bad for the cost.
The sound is clear, and louder, but Good Bass is what i was looking for.
I am very disappointed, now i have to spend again for speakers.
Sony was supposed to be better
I am planning for Creative Gigaworks series.

Any way i found a solution for it.
I compared the Bass Reflex pipes with the pipe in creative ones.
Creative has a lot better hard plastic pipe, Sony has Cardboard pipes
I added some more length to the pipe, some 3 inches extra, and the bass is better now.
I wonder why Sony cant design good speakers, or were they going for "louder the better" ??
Any way, now i can listen to songs on them. Not hurting ears any more, but i am very disappointed with Sony.
And still, the small Creative Inspires sound better than my modified Sony.

Wow, I'm shocked by your review of the SRS D8. I have that speaker system and the sub is awesome and believe me I know what I'm talking about. Maybe your unit is defective or you need to position the sub on a better place, the placement of a sub-woofer is very important.
