Ok after sticking my old system in a case for my son. He told me he wanted a Sonic case. So I was just going to get it airbrushed. But then I thought Why not do him a proper case mod.
So using the cheap case he has with his system. My first problem was the fact that the left hand sidepanel had air vents and a fan mounting area that would ruin the sonic cut out.
So I decided just to switch the panels over. so the plain right hand side panel is now the left and vice verser.
This now gave me a nice plain side panel to work with.
So first of all I chucked a permanent marker and a peice of card at my Girlfriend and told her to get drawing. meanwile I did the hard part by masking up a square on the PC case
and after my GF had drawn the picture I cut it out offerd it up to the side panel.
After getting it into position I traced around the shape to give me the cutout.
And then after 20 miniuts of swearing at a drill, jigsaw, and dremel. I ended up with this.
Now I have to go on a mass cleanup, file downt the edges etc. And then the whole case will be sent to a local Powder coaters to get the insides and outsides painted.
Also needing to order some dark blue plexi glass to finish off the window when it is all painted up. after the plexiglass is fitted I will be using the engraving cutters on my dremel, and cutting in the detail on the plexi glass with it. So the lights inside will show it up nicely.
(i hope)
I will apologise now, as the chances are this could be a slow build. As I am kinda making it up as i go along with this one.
Spec wise the PC is nothing special.
Nvidia 9800GT
Gigabyte basic MB
2gig of OCZ DDR2 800mhz
AMD X2 7750 black edition
500gig sata hdd
400watt OCZ fatality PSU
But that system is more than capable of playing most games even the likes of metro 2033 allbe it only in dx10 with 40fps. but I doubt my 6 year old will be playing metro 2033 lol.
