Some advice please

Hello guys, i havent posted here for a long time, but i have now found myself to be in possession of some more overclocking friendly kit, so im here to ask advice from the guys who know best.

So far, i have achieved 2.8, albeit briefly (for about 45 minutes before restart) and im more or less convinced its my FSP Blue Storm I 500W PSU thats to blame ( i have my eye on a nice EBAY 600w Seasonic), but i just wanted to see if anyone here could help me get more from this kit. My Cpu HSF is a self lapped Freezer 64 Pro, using Shin Etsu TIM. I have the same TIM on the Chipset cooler (not sure, but it cant hurt eh?) and a Zalman VF-900 CU on the GPU with more Shin Etsu paste.

Even with the new supposedly better cooler and with it being lapped, my temps under load @2.765 are still quite high in the upper 50's.

What should i be checking or fiddling with in the BIOS?

it could be the mountng of the cooler or case airflow. also ensure that the thermal paste is applied well.

There are a number of superior HSF/ coolers to the freezer if you really require better temps or overclocks (or a machII )

I wish. I have been drooling over that Gold case on the main page! Hmm. Well, i somehow managed to get into windows today with 1.48vcore, 11x250(2750mhz) with the RAM @2.4vdimm( 2222) @ 200 (DDR 333 ?) . It was okay for a while, i was running ORTHOS, load temps were an encouraging 41c, my PWMIC was 32c ( which is a first) and all was good, until i started doing stuff. I had CPU-Z, Smartguardian, X-Fire, all open, as well as Task Manager, then i opened MSN, and *SLAP* it just restarted. Hmmm. So i tried running lower Vcores with the DFI thing of adding 104%-123% over the manually chosen Vcore, so i could move up in smaller incremements, in order to avoid 1.6 vcore( what im running now). But it was all to no avail.

I've tried loosening my RAM timings to : Cas Lat- 2.0

Ras to Cas 4

Ras Prech 4

Tras 7

and also 2.0, 3, 3, 5 , both sets of timings with Bank TRC of 7. And no dice. Well, not into 2.8hz anyway. It's a random thing almost, being able to get into Windows @2.8. Have i hit the ceiling here?> I dont think i have, i just think im missing something simple in the BIOS. If anyone can help, please do, as im very eager to learn as much as i can, so i can excersise this system to the fullest of its capabilities. Lol, im even considering bodging some airflow funnels out of cardboard, to manage airflow over my Mosfets and Ram.

Have you tried running Memtest86 to test your memory for errors?

No, is that the BIOS Memtest? I have it as one of the options, but i never tried it yet. Also, my Comp won't boot if i put my RAM into the yellow slots, only seems to work in the orange ones. Im sure that they're supposed to be in the yellow slots. Difference?

Should i try flashing the Bios? This board is brand new, and i think it came with the latest one. but i wonder if i should try some other ones.
