So today I got...

My E0 stepping Q9550. At $281 after Paypal coupon and $203 total after ebay live cashback, I couldn't resist. Batch is L830B421, VID of 1.2375.

So to start off, I decided to see how low I could drop the volts at stock speeds. Got it down to a nice 1.040v idle, 1.008v load:

For some fun, did a bit of clocking. Managed to get 3.2GHz 3DMark06 stable. Unfortunately wasn't Prime stable, but I bet 3.0GHz would have been.

So now it's time for some real clocking: 4.05GHz, 1.304v idle, 1.248v load

Very happy with this chip. I managed to boot into Windows at 4.25GHz with 1.392v, but cause of the terrible vdroop of my board, it froze when I started prime as the volts dropped down to 1.336v. I'll probably perform a vdroop mod at some point and try again later

Hi mate,

I have that chip and mine is 3dmk stable at 3.45Ghz at 1.25v.

I'm using an asus maximus mobo. Have a look at the 3dmk scores im my sig

Well, after some reading, it seems that this board doesn't have a pencil vdroop mod. Requires a resistor solder on a very small point, ie very difficult. Guess I'll have to live with the vdroop. Also, 3DMark screenie:

Wow very impressive indeeed!

Get a new board then and give this chip a pounding!

Nah, won't be getting a new board. For one, I got this one for free. For another, I got SLI'ed 9600GTs, so if I were to get a new board, would probably be a Evga FTW. Finally, I don't really feel like dealing with selling this thing.

Very nice! Whats ebay live cashback?

Something that Microsoft is running. See here. Unfortunately, I don't think it's active on any international Ebays. You might be able to get away with finding someone who ships internationally though
