I'm sure this topic has been beat to death but I'm looking for some specific info regarding the gtx670 and surround gaming. I have been going back and forth trying to figure out if I actually need the extra 2GB of vram or not. I currently have a triple monitor setup (down to 2 monitors as my 2nd gtx465 died). I primarily play sim racing games but do like to have the occasional play around with BF3, MW3, etc etc. My current game of choice is the new rFactor 2 (beta release) running a single 24" @ 1920x1080. Using Fraps and Afterburner I am seeing the vram almost totally max'd out and sometimes as low as 20-22fps with all the details max'd out. This is with an unlocked gtx465 and 448-cudas. I've benched this card at just a shade over 6k in 3DMark11 (p-score obviously) so it's no slouch on it's own. I'm just getting a bit tired of waiting around for 'the next best thing' if you know what I mean. It really sucks going from triple screen to single screen racing...I need my 3 monitors back!
What say you OC3D?! Will the 2GB card be enough or should I be patient and wait another week or 2GB for the 4GB models to come in stock??
P.S. - I have been doing some reading on the whole vram thing (specially this thread) but I can't pretend like it all makes sense to me! lol
The reference 670 does look good but I don't get why they had to use a cooler that is too big for for the pcb? I would prefer the card too be shorter. all of those non reference 670's look awesome though!
