The best performing 670 overall i've seen is the Asus DirectCU ii. It's amazingly quiet, looks good and overclocks very well too

Just had another look, turns out it only comes with a backplate direct from evga

4gb 670s in SLI is where its at if you are on multiple screen setups. Cheaper than 680 SLI or a 690, also with plenty of Vram and not much difference performance wise, especially when overclocked.

apparently the Asus direct CU comes with a back plate too

I've got the MSI OC'd one with reference cooler. Performance-wise it is just brilliant, haven't tried any further overclocking yet, because I didn't need it. I opted for the reference cooler, as it exhausts the hot air out of the case, rather than those aftermarket coolers. Also, from my previous exprience with the 570, I actually found the reference cooler quieter (while IDLE) than the one on SOC 570 from Gigabyte, which I gave to my brother. The idle noise is the only one I care about, because while gaming I just stick my headset on and don't hear anything from outside. However, the cooler on the MSI emits some sort of whirring noise, not loud, but noticeable. I will eventually just stick Arctic twin turbo on the card and that should solve the problem. Just to let potentional buyers know, other people are having the same problem with the card.

Getting the top version when the money from my 460's come through, actually stuck between top version and 4gb evga version, I play heavily modded games like skyrim and new vegas

Does a Waterblock fit onto the smaller PCB ones? Im wondering wether the Connectors will cause a problem with block fitment or get in the way of the barbs on some blocks? Not that im looking to get a 670, just curious.

no, the 680 blocks wont fit on the reference pcb, only the 680 pcb ones. Reference waterblocks are on their way though
