So I went out and got a 26" LCD TV. I connected my computer using an 8600 gt to the tv, through S-Video.. I do NOT like the quality at all it is hard to read the icons on the desktop unless I set the display to just 800 x 600. The tv says the max resolution on it is like 1360 x something or so, I don't have the book here at work. So I'm wondering if you guys can help me decide on what to connect it with and if there are any settings I need to work on. I'm using windows Vista Ultimate. My video card has DVI ports, I heard those are better than S-video? Can I buy some adapter to go from DVI - HDMI? The TV has 2 HDMI Imputs. Also..What do I do about sound? Try as I may, I couldn't get the sound to come out through my TV. I connected the green cable to the green output on my sound card like normal. The tv has a Green input thing that fits it.. but on the slot next to the VGA. Does that mean I need to use VGA to have sound? The S-video slot has something SPDIF next to it. How can I get the best sound/ video coming out ? Thanks a lot for your help guys! You're awesome!

S-video will just give u an analogue output, whatever resolution u set the pc output to, it`ll rehash it to factors of something like 720x576, with blur and fuzz 
Anywho, DVI is a much much better option, connecting that to ur TV will give u a digital signal, and aslong as u keep to resolutions supported by the TV, it will be an excellent picture.
As it sounds like ur 8600 has an spdif input, it appears the best option for u would be to use a DVI to HDMI converter from ur 8600 (should have come with the card). If u have ur spdif connected to an spdif source (from your pc`s soundcard/onboard sound), the 8600 will send the audo to the TV.

Sorry guess I was a little messy in the post, the SPDIF thing is on the TV, not my video card, my card only has 2 DVI and one SVIDEO. My sound card has like uhhmm.. 6 or so little 2.5 holes on it. So you're saying I need to buy a converter that will let me connect my DVI to the HDMI on my tv? And keep the resolution below 1360 or w/e the tv supports... When I used the nvidia control panel thing to try to switch resolutions it only gave me 800 600 1024 x 768 and 12xx by 1024, never did it give me an option for the 1360 x xxx... Could you please link me to the converter I need to get. Bestbuy or walmart would be an easy place for me to find it, although I can also buy it online. Thanks for the help!

If ur tv`s only digital input is a HDMI, then a simple DVI->HDMI connector for the 8600 end, then use a HDMI cable to connect to the TV. It won`t have sound through it if indeed ur 8600 doesn`t support spdif input.
As to connecting sound to the tv. If u have a line of 3.5mm jack connectors coming from the pc, u going to have to use the phono connections on the tv for inputs.
If u look in this listing from NewEgg, they actually have cables with DVI at one end and HMDI at the other. I`d been inclined to buy and adaptor and a seperate HDMI cable tho so it can be used on other things in the future.

Not a whole lot of expense in it mind, BestBuy/CompUSA/Fryz all have staff in their pc section that will show u what u need if u go in and see them. Have the prices from NewEgg in mind when u go so u know they aren`t trying to sell u stuff that`s too expensive. Talk to them about the sound outputs and inputs for ur TV and PC. Really they are generally very helpful - rather than ordering connectors that u maybe not 100% sure about over the `net.
Good thing there too is that if their suggestion doesn`t work - u can take it back

Nah, the phono inputs are what I think u`ll need to use on the tv. U`ll see a white (left audio) and red (right audio) - and I`m thinking that if u`r pc doesn`t have a soundcard, I`m not sure if u`ll want to use the line-out (blue) 3.5mm jack from the pc or the speaker 3.5mm jack output (green) - that can be awkward with speakers being regularly connected to the pc.
Don`t know much about the blue line out jack, don`t use it .. at all really.
Be super-kewl tho if u could buy a soundcard with spdif output tho hehe
