hey i finally built my computer today, and i must say i was pretty pleased with how it all went.

currently the specs are

AMD athlon64 3500+venice

Asus A8N SLI motherboard

512mb corsair ram

Antec 350 PSU

7300GT (none at the moment because there was a 6200AGP in the box that i got...and the computer store is closed tomorrow >.<)and i will put a second 7300GT in shortly. (so i cannot boot the computer yet because of no video out!!!:mad::mad: )

(crappy 10gig HD using to boot, running everything off external USB 2)

oh yeah, i was pretty carefull about static during the installation, i was sure to touched the outside of the case before i touched anything, and i had a friend who was helping me who i made touch the case at first. but insisted on walking off a few times after he did, i was pretty insistant on making him touch the case each time he came back before he touched any of the internal components. assuming he did not touch the case when he came back, do you think it is possiable that he would have generated enough static to damage anything if he was wearing cotton? (he only walked up to the other end of the house and back a few times). oh and neither of us wore shoes or socks

just not sure *how* carefull i need to be :wavey: :nono: :yumyum:

cheers people :worship:

[edit]

oh yeah...i assume it would be fine to use a single ATi card (x800 pro) in an SLI motherboard while i wait on my 7300GTs?

w00t, gratz mate! Glad it all went together for you on the first shot. And you can never be too carely when it comes to static, do as much or as little as u feel is necessary.

And yeah of course u can run an x800 on that board. As long as it's PCI-E, it'll work :)

Nice one mate! It's pretty cool when you build your 1st PC and you get it up and running :)

I'm not THAT careful when it comes to static myself (probably pay the price at some point but hey!), but as Frag says, it's up to you in the end ;)
