Snow White Competition 2nd Place Rig Pics

Shame about the dents and bends, but nice rig you got your self there. Seeing what the couriors did to the case I bet your glad the cooler and the gpu were detached before shipping or you could have a big pile of PCB mess in the case i imagine a free flowing noctua NH D14 wouldnt do much good for the mobo or anything else it gome in contact with.

Ya, it looks like the dents will be easy to straighten out. I will do that another time, Im just happy to have a good

working PC. Its really quiet as well, the only time I hear it is when I game because I downloaded the Afterburner program

to control the GPU fan speed under load.

As for the Courier, the damage could have happened anywhere, The bolts being bent in is probably due to the fact that par was on the bottom of the box and something heavy was probably stacked ontop of it. Looking at my tracking Information, and taking into account each time it was transfered it would go from aircraft, to ramp, to airport transport trolly, to building, back to a trolly, ramp and aircraft. So I am estimating from toms house to mine the package was moved and stacked over 25 times.

Good thing is was not a NZXT case! I would probably need some modeling glue to put the case back together lol.

As for the Monitor, That monitor you see in the pics is a HD, but is not mine, it goes to the PC that belongs to my sister that let me borrow it for the pics, Im currently on an old CRT monitor, Other wise I would have just picked up a HDMI cable. But will be picking up a new monitor soon, thats for sure.

@ sin, thats absolutely correct

Thanks again OC3D!

Well done mate and great pics. Your old pc made me laugh, having to hotwire it to start it, bloody funny! And the gpu fans were a nice touch!

Out of interest what temps does that 6950 run at idle in the R3 & at what fan speed?

At Idel it stays at or under 38C. 99F. Thats at I believe 50% fan speed. That is what it is running at right now and the ambient room temp here is between 76F-80F / 24C-26C. So just browsing the net it runs at about 14c-16c above ambient or Delta as Tom would say.

When running a game at full specs the Card was getting up to approx 77C, I downloaded the Afterburner fan speed control program and set it so it remains at 10% from 10C to 30c, then gradually goes up to %100 at 60c. So now when gaming it will max out at about 55c to 58c.

As far as the case and CPU fans, Tom had some cool reducers plugged into the connections for each fan to reduce the RPM for making it silent. I took those off in preparation of our coming summer, We are in a nice but older house that is not well insulated and we can not afford to run the AC 24/7, so its not uncommon for the indoor temp to be around 80F/27C when we get in the weeks where we can have temps well over 100F/38C for weeks at a time and night time temps in the 80's to 90's F.

When we get past the Heat Hump around the end of October to November Ill be putting the Reducers back on, not that it needs them, its still quiet.

nice rig you won. too bad it's damaged by the courier.

I am sure my courier Shaun took very good care of the package, I am betting the damage happened after he handed it off to DHL who moved and stacked it from vehicle to vehicle, building to building etc over 25 times during its trip. But if you seen the pics of my old pc (which I rescued from a pile destined for the dump years ago) you can imagine I am not the least bit bothered by the slight damage, I already straightened out the bolt areas with a pair of cloth wrapped pliers.

If I run my 6950 at 50% fan speed in my phantom case it is way too loud. That R3 must really dampen the sound if the fan is running @ 50% and its quiet?

but at least I have central air and live in a small apt so running the ac isnt an issue 4 me. And I totally agree with blaming DHL I used to run a shipping center and DHL was one of our carriers. There not know for being gentle. Now knowing how much they handled it its shocking to me thats all the damage it incurred.

Nice rig that...

Shame about the damage on the case.

Not thought about buying another identical white R3 and rebuild it ?

That damage would annoy me every time I seen it.

lol did you see the whole thread???? He used to hotwire his old comp to turn on even dented this case is 10000000000% better for him

I think the dent gives it character, and their is a great story associated with it as well. It's like the scar on Indie's chin....

Love'n the new rig! Man its a different world, Power button to windows 7 completely loaded is like half a minute. Just got my Photoshop uploaded and it runs very quick and snappy. And with the new GPU I can now watch youtube videos in 1080P no problem, where with the old pc I was limited to 720p, anything any higher would stick and freeze. The rig also games great as well. Just finished Operation flashpoint red river, and almost done with S.T.A.L.K.E.R call of Pripyat. Not a single issue so far. working my way up the games, maybe the crysis series or Portal 2 next.

Thanks again!

So much awsome gear.

I would of been realy peed with that damage though. I very very sure you can claim back the cost of item damage though. Dont know if you have looked into it yet or not. But you ant let the courriers get away with that m8.
