So as you guys discovered Eminem is a guilty pleasure of mine.

I downloaded his new album and had it on my cans yesterday.

One song leapt out at me. It's really dark and depressing and has a sample in it from, I'm pretty sure, Simon and Garfunkel.

Any way I left it on repeat for an hour. Has a evil bass drop too.

Watched the video today on YT and I was literally in tears.

It's easily his best work since Stan. It's so moving and sad, yet brilliantly genius autism in action.

I am waiting to get paid to buy the album because the rest of it is fine other than that 1 line, but people I know who don't mind his music are ready to lynch him for it.

Only a few artists I buy the albums for, the rest I just listen to the songs on YouTube etc but Eminem, The Streets, Disturbed and Lindsey Stirling are the main ones I buy, other than that it's Wigan Pier, Hardcore, Helterskelter, Euro Dance and Trance I mainly listen to.

Totally forgot Eminem had a new album coming out, downloading it now. Always been a fan of his, his angry stuff really spoke to me in high school.

Alien, what song are you referring to? I'll be in the server room this afternoon so I think I'm going to pop some headphones on. I went to the dark side and got some beats awhile back. I wanted true wireless with ear clips as I use them mowing the lawn and snowblowing and these fit the bill nicely. So nice not having them ripped out of your ear every few minutes.

He's damaged. His life has been absolutely terrible, so you can't really get mad that he's like that. It would have all been made worse by the fact he's on the spectrum.

He says and does shocking things, but like I said without that he wouldn't be who he is.

Product of environment. It's like expecting a soldier to return from war and wanting them to see life like they did before.

Bits of you harden, imperfections develop and it all rolls into who you are.

I'm not perfect. Far from it. I too had a proper crap life and had to see and do things that most kids don't. I had to bury my dad when I was 7. I grew up in an area where stabbings and murder were every day events.

I remember being in a pub with my first wife from America. South London. Any way police sirens every where and a helicopter landed in the street. I just carried on stuffing my face like nothing was happening.

Life can do that to you when you go over the limits. I've never held it against him.

It's kinda like the whole homophobia / Elton John thing.

Yeah em is bad, but if that's how you were brought up and all you knew then it becomes normal. Thankfully Elton understood that and didn't hate on it.

It's all very well for some PC idiot to tell you what you should and shouldn't say or do. In whose eyes? Some deranged liberal hippy douche like Jeremy Corbyn?

Do me a favour. Idealism doesn't work. You can't make someone who is clearly damaged but amazing because of it bend to your will with passive aggression.

And that's the problem with life now. "Might isn't right" no, no it's not. But passive aggression is even worse.

I can't go back 45 years and live a different life. I wish I could, but then I wouldn't be me would I?

I know how you must feel right now. It's indescribable.

However you now must live on for your mum dad and sister.

They'll always be there for you 24 hours a day to talk to and give your love to. I've lost many beautiful people from my life but I now live for them. Every time I smile or laugh I share it with them and they live on through me.

I have photos of my lost loved ones in the kitchen and I talk to them every day and tell them I love them.

Please don't let life beat you. You're a true warrior.

My condolances for you Tom, take the time you need, deserve and make her proud with a memorial build, something truely epic, something that screams custom just for her.

We are here for you, a band of people you managed to get together through your passion for what you do and if we can support you, we all should.

Keep Fighting, don't give up, you have got a great little community here, it isn't the big boys, but it doesn't have to be, we came here because we liked your content, it should continue, your passion and dedication have always been there.

My friend recently finished work on the game Lenna's Inception, mostly made by just these two guys, it's a cute little "Zelda clone" and has been very well received critically since its launch a few days ago, it's not super long but is designed for replay-ability and comes it at £7.

It's got 8-bit and 32-bit selectable art styles, healthy amount of satire and proceduraly generated worlds amongst other things to keep it fresh.

So little random surprise for me.

Firstly, I absolutely can't stand rap music. Especially british rap and their over exaggerated dialect when they are rolling off their lyrics. I mean saying Fink instead of think, Paffetic instead of pathetic (SMH). All that Drill music nonsense, etc etc blah blah.

But I have a thing with monday morning work travelling where I pick something 100% random on Spotify. Today I got stuck with Stormzy. Was about to skip, but figured, no. I will listen to it, like it or not.

I was right though. Music is terrible. Bad bass, over repeated sampling, no variation and so on. However... I must admit, his lyrics are pretty damn deep. Caught me off guard and I found myself Equalizing out all the music as much to focus the vocals and listening to about 3 or 4 of his tracks. I do see why he is popular, and I wondered why originally I saw him being so political on social media etc. But seems like his tracks are full of it. Lyrically, he kinda reminds me of RATM.

Tbf Grime has its origins in DnB/EDM, just with MCs over the top, rather than rap or hip hop, but we do have some proper hip hop a little further up north in the UK, if you want the same high quality of lyrics (The topics underpin modern life in Britain, so you'll find them across the genre) with some old school 90's hip hop vibes & more live bands for backing I recommend some Levelz MC's (I will say though, having grown up in Salford, I've literally never been physically able to pronounce the 'th' sound):

Good instrumental syergies. Discreet clever little guitar fills with variations. Small changes in sampling. Variation on the beats during chorus. And well Bone Thugs were pretty big once so they bring their fast lyrical rhyming and it does have a catchy ring to it for me. Maybe because I am a guitarist and have a different genre preference.

Gives an R'n'b, Funk, hip hop, EDM flow all in one.

Yeah I'm a big fan of 90's hip hop, more stuff like Wu Tang, Nas, Mobb Deep, Guru, ect usually though. Guru's Jazzmataz albums are amazing for marrying the sounds of different genres with top notch 90's MC's

But there's some amazing instrumentals in modern British hip hop, this guy is amazing, he's deservedly blown up since this older content, (NO CD's is a good track for its guitar instrumentals, he usually gets Tom Misch to play backing when live, but this track is gold)

At first I quite liked grime. Then it hit me that there's nothing positive about it and it spreads hate. I know how it is in certain parts of the UK but people living there do get a choice. They all go to school and learn like any other kids, unless of course they choose not to.

My brother and I were in the same boat in the same crap part of London. We had the same opportunities. I flunked (my choice I wasn't stupid) and he made a good life for himself.

Both of us could be dead now.

So yeah, not sure I like it tbh. Plus most of it is about the same old crap just spreading violence and hatred.

80s I was bit into electro hip hop. Then it all got too gangsta and violent for me so I moved into punk and grunge. I'd always loved punk since being a kid and Adam and the ants etc.

I like Eminem's story style and his comedy. The rest I can take or leave.

I mainly listen to stuff like Lukas Graham now. It's about as negative as I can handle.

I have found a new love for an artist Ayreon.

Every album is secretly linked in one massive story from first album to last (I think 9 albums or more).

All based on a future that we have destroyed pretty much exactly as the direction we are heading to. So they send a warning back in time to try and change history and save humankind.

However the warning is sent back to the dark ages to a blind minstrel boy who sees them as visions a la Nostradamus.

There is also an album alien related where people are abducted from different times and investigated to learn about human emotion (think a hippie, highlander, knight, viking etc). Every singer plays a unique character. Typing this makes it sound absurd, but listening to the story unfold, is so damn clever. Has a number of great artists too. Tobias Sammett of Edguy/Avantasia, Fish from Marillion, Bruce Dickinson and more.

One album even delves into the "locked in syndrome" of a patient reviewing his life through his own mind.

I love clever concepts like this. Avantasia do it well via their Metal Opera too. Even W.A.S.P have a fantastic one by the name of Crimson Idol.
