Small talk & Chit chat

Those Asus PH27xxxx lineup is notorious for issues of any and all kinds. I would fully try to get a refund from them.

Then move on to MSI, Gigabyte, LG. They all seem to be making good gamer stuff.

I'm personally looking at an Eve Spectrum (again). Not sure of 4k 144 or 2k 240hz.

Would it be possible to get a refund when the original purchase was 2.5 years ago?

I'm not sure where you are located, but in the US where I am then no you definitely would not legally have a case for a refund unless there was some class action lawsuit against the company for a faulty product. But there isn't that.

So I would just keep getting a replacement. I would try to be as calm and civil as possible for a non refurbished replacement. If it comes back as a working monitor I'd sell it as soon as possible then get a different one.

ROG PG279Q.

Original unit was 2.5 years old and developed a screen defect, sent it for RMA nad have since been provide with three replacements all with the same issue already on the screen. Am getting ed up of having to keep sending them back only to be disappointed with the replacement.

The lastest replacement has an issue with the screen AND the speakers don't work... Like, WTF?

My issue with selling is I'd have to sell with the defect which would reduce the selling price :(

Whereabouts are you dude cause if like me you're in Australia you can get a refund, I just got a refund last week on a Creative card I bought in 2016 as our consumer laws supercede warranties.

Summer is here and we know that means beach season.

My/Our company has looked at the mistakes made by the British and US and how over crowded the beaches are. They deployed several wifi boxes to sniff out anonymous unique mobile signals which in turn populate an app and website.

Users can view the app and without even leaving the home, see which beaches are crowded or over populated and plan accordingly. Is not mandatory to stay away, but at least you are able to see which beaches in the nordic regions (piloting in Sweden) are overcroweded (Red), busy (yellow) or quiet (green) :)

I thought that was pretty cool. Especially after reading about the whining old lady in the UK complaining the beach she was sat on had too many people and thought they should go elsewhere. :D

In the UK.

I have emailed them and requested a new unit as a replacement.

They reply advised they have escalated my case to see if this is possible.

So decided to reinstall windows the other day from build 1903 to 2004.

Thing is I haven't reinstalled windows on my main PC since Windows 7 was a thing. I upgraded from that to each Windows 10 update, 1709(I think?), 1803, etc. Basically 5 years if not more

I haven't done so because of all the development work I've been doing I had 0 time to put the machine down and redo all the thousands of settings, the hundreds of projects and their settings as well their specific database servers and APIs, etc.

But I'm done with all that so decided hey why not?

Turns out it was a great thing. Because a fresh install alongside a fresh install of Nvidia drivers. I now get 30fps more in Rainbow six siege! Went from 144 to 160-180 now. Same settings and same clockspeeds. That's insane!

I haven't noticed any other performance improvements in any other games and only just now turned on the HWS feature from 2004. So I'm pretty confused as to why I'm getting R6S specific performance boosts but hey oh well I'll take it :D

The only difference is I basically got a free 1TB 970 Evo Plus and moved my entire game library from an old 840 Evo SSD to this 970 Evo. But that should not be the reason for a 30fps sometimes 40fps increase. But again I'll take it :D

This is pretty normal on an old install of windows, It gets pretty bogged down.

I have heard that before but really I'm not sure I believe it. Even with Siege giving me better performance no other benchmark whether synthetic or in game, or even storage benchmarks, are within margin of error.

I just cannot explain Sieges performance increase. I took pictures of it's settings before reinstall and set it up exactly the same.

My only theory is fresh drivers and Vulkan install. But that alone shouldn't be the difference. I'm seriously confused!

Is it due to the new GPU scheduler?

It was off when I was testing. I turned it on earlier today and played a game or two and didn't notice any difference in fps. Based off initial reviews by Dice and Mark we shouldn't really notice much increase right now so I doubt it would be anything significant if it was helping.

I mean Dice may be right in that some stuff might just run better with a new install. Even though I have basically the same setup as before.

Only actual difference is I'm using the 970 Evo vs a data SSD. But a SSD alone wouldn't explain the speed difference

You haven't upped your ram have you?
Cause when I was waiting for my faulty ram to be replaced I was running 16GB and when I got my replacement and back up to 32GB MWO jumped by 22.4 fps average just going from 16 to 32

Nope! I am still using my 16GB 2800mhz kit. Same CPU overclock as well, 8700k 4.6ghz

Well all I can think of then is optimizations in the latest driver and better performance due to less messy system from the format and updates, still it's better perfomance rather than less so you've gotta be happy about that :D

When Windows 7 was the main OS I did a reinstall after having the OS installed for the better part of 3 years, I gained around 30FPS using the same hardware after the fresh install, Windows in general has a nasty habit of losing performance over time due to junk build up, It's why I do a reinstall every 3 months.

I am very happy! Might lower some settings and get better input lag. But after the reinstall not gonna lie I've been on fire in the game so I'm stoked about how it turned out. Whether the extra frames are a factor or not don't matter to me! :)

That's some serious dedication but hey it's worth it evidently!

Insane insane race, p'ed about Hamilton knocking Albon off from a podium again but only 11 finishers in a dry race is crazy. And Norris P3, what a final lap!
