So decided to reinstall windows the other day from build 1903 to 2004.
Thing is I haven't reinstalled windows on my main PC since Windows 7 was a thing. I upgraded from that to each Windows 10 update, 1709(I think?), 1803, etc. Basically 5 years if not more
I haven't done so because of all the development work I've been doing I had 0 time to put the machine down and redo all the thousands of settings, the hundreds of projects and their settings as well their specific database servers and APIs, etc.
But I'm done with all that so decided hey why not?
Turns out it was a great thing. Because a fresh install alongside a fresh install of Nvidia drivers. I now get 30fps more in Rainbow six siege! Went from 144 to 160-180 now. Same settings and same clockspeeds. That's insane!
I haven't noticed any other performance improvements in any other games and only just now turned on the HWS feature from 2004. So I'm pretty confused as to why I'm getting R6S specific performance boosts but hey oh well I'll take it
The only difference is I basically got a free 1TB 970 Evo Plus and moved my entire game library from an old 840 Evo SSD to this 970 Evo. But that should not be the reason for a 30fps sometimes 40fps increase. But again I'll take it
