Small talk & Chit chat

Just got back from a mates and he got the Vive Pro a few days ago and also plays Elite Dangerous fairly often like me, Logged into my account and it's such a huge step up from the Oculus Rift CV1, Everything is so clear and crisp with it's 2880x1600 res compared to the Rift CV1's res of 2160x1200, It's only roughly a 37% increase in PPI but it makes such a huge difference, The only thing that let it down slightly was the FoV which is 110' the same as the Rift CV1, This is where Valves Index is going to be immense with its 130' FoV which will basically get rid of that scuba diver feeling.

Haven't had much time to play games recently and won't for quite a while so I wiped my PC and installed Linux again, yay!

So I was suspended from twitter as apparently me deleting my answers to people due to misspelled words and then re-replying with corrected sentences is "suspicious activity" and then on top of that deleting my old old retweets, For competitions I've entered from OC3D, Scan etc... is also "suspicious activity" :yelrotflmao:

And Twitter wonder why they are haemorrhaging people ^_^

EDIT

Got an update from someone at Twatter, Apparently because my handle was AMD Red Team Fan, That apparently meant I was impersonating AMD to spread malicious lies and slander.... even though my profile was clearly labelled FAN and only ever used for entering competitions and now and then commenting on AMD posts like "Awesome" or "can't wait to get my hands on xxxx CPU/GPU".

The people at Twitter all need to visit therapists ASAP, I can understand why so many are leaving in droves, They're genuinely warped.

What I have been reading about Pro is that the perspective in smaller ships in ED is awful. Especially in the SRV. Target reticle is a complete mess and way off. Its supposed to be ok in the larger variants, but anything smaller is a total show stopper.

Did you try the SRV?

Im more interested in the Pimax 5k+ at the moment.

I got into my Federal Corvette and then launched the 1 man fighter, Went racing around some asteroids, Looked amazing, Honestly no problems at all.

I'd love to play ED but I have no clue what I'm doing. I stopped playing after the first month of launch just got busy never went back. As a foundation member (or lifetime whatever it is) I always have the newest stuff, I'm just clueless as to how to use anything lol

Now is a great time to start. They improved onboarding alot.

I like how you have to explore to unlock things. E.g. the Guardians mission only shows once you reach a particular star system.

Probably the most amazing thing even in VR was to get close to landing on a planet only to see ancient ruins slowly coming in to focus.

There really isn't set path for you to take, Go make money, Do trade, Grind up Imperial and/or Federal rank, Earn money to buy the top 3 ships, Grind out materials to unlock the engineer people to upgrade your weapons, Engines etc... go exploring, Become a bounty hunter and dog fight in an asteroid field, Really up to you :)

Apparently there's a rocket launcher in BL3 that shoots burgers. As they explode it says "dayum dayum dayum" in big red text.

Not played my self for ages, so don't know if it's still a thing or been removed, but theres nothing like flying through the letterbox at full throttle and stopping before the back wall with a cargo full of smuggled illegal items, and it paid well if you didn't hit the back wall and become a red stain :)

I played the original elite from the 80s. Flying in that letter box with basic graphics and no auto dock was a challenge on its own.

Easier said than done. No idea how to make money. I've played on and off the past 2 years, about a week at a time when I did. Always struggling to make any money. Have to do the same repetitive mundane tasks. I just go into RES with low intensity or whatever and kill AI. Gets old after a few hours.

Yeah I wouldn't of done anything that silly in the original, it's easier in this version, and I hear the latest patch makes it easier auto everything

Tbf that's you making it repetitive, when you start getting bored go do a bit of trading or a few missions rare goods make some good money but can be alot of traveling
trade loops this site is handy for finding a simple trade route to get started

It's not me making it repetitive. It's the only thing to make money and having done 20+ hours of research into trading, it's also going to lead down the same repetitive operations, whether I try I want it to or not.

I just found swapping about kept it interesting Though I did get into the smuggling a fun part of the game, but I think Ed is a game where to an extent you have to make your own fun be it pirate bounty hunter trader or smuggler it's a case of picking the role you want to play

Yeah it's fun for a week for me. It's just not my style I guess. I also just find some of the tedious super cruise and drop outs annoying. Takes forever. Just wished you could have it automatically done without a module, and faster to

As far as I recall this was decided by the backers and the time it takes to do a system jump, so you'd have a sense of the distance you are traveling, something like tht was mentioned when it first came out

And you thought you were having a bad day...
