Small talk & Chit chat

Finally something has gone right for me 🎉 :ROFLMAO:

After buying new ram for my "Discord PC" but using ram out of older pc that I know works, my "Discord PC" is working fine with no issues, so the new ram is going to go into the pc I took the ram from.

Swapped the motherboard, cpu, ram in my server and had some trouble getting into the bios and the IPMI wasn't working, but once I got into the bios I was able to sort it all out.

Logged into the IPMI and updated the bios, went in all 64Gb or ram is detected, all NVME drives are showing in Unraid once I enabled the PCI-E Bifurcation.

The web services hosted on it are running faster as they are all now on a dedicated "App's" NVME drive as is the "Appdata" for the server instead of being on the "Cache" drive which is where the downloads etc go before being moved on to the main array once the Cache drive reaches 80% used.

It's not using any less power though, but it is running a bit cooler and a little quieter, I just need to go into the bios which I will do at the weekend and set a custom fan profile up.

So after 2 years of going back and forth with the local housing association we finally got the letter that basically says, if we want to help my grandad with his mobility around the house, create a wet room, add disabled entry points and by extension exit points to the house, as well as make other changes required, that we have to buy the house.

All in it's £80k :eek:so set up a Justgiving and GoFundMe, and post the links on X and Bluesky, and hey presto automatically get inundated with spam and scammers wanting me to pay them money for my Justgiving and GoFundMe pages

Honestly I don't know what this world is coming to.

In other news I got given a new Hotas and rudder pedals because a mate won them and doesn't use them or want them, and knowing I play Elite he said I can have them 😲

So I now have a brand new Thrustmaster Warthog and a set of Turtle Beach Velocity One Rudder Pedals, which I would have sold in order to put towards my grandads house etc, but my Logitech X56 Hotas has broken so I needed a replacement and this has come in clutch!

The good thing is, that with a little piece of software called "Joy2key" I can map the "On/Off" switches to be similar in function to the X56 Switches, in that when I switch one up the lights come on, on my ship and when I switch it down they go off, same with landing gear etc.

The thing I need to do though is get use to the rudder pedals and not having YAW on the Joystick.

I am going to give my Xbox Series X a good clean out and going over, then I am going to box it up and hand it to him as I he is still using an Xbox One X and refuses to buy a Series X so he did me a solid so I will do him one, not quite the same but I will buy him something else at some point or get his misses something.
