My new rig is starting life with a Galaxy gtx 670which is a 4gig+ vram card . Can I match it with a standard vram card like THIS .

Yes, but the first card will drop to 2gb so you'll lose out a bit.
You'd be better pushing for a second 4gb card.

Im at the beginning of the build so to the what res question ......dunno .. max lol..And thanx to you both .. that was a perfect point to illustrate my " noobieness " I thought that the overall vram was dictated by the first card ,,,, I'll definately spend the extra bux on the second .. thanx again

Im with deano on this one, It doesn't really sound like you are going to need 2 680's, especially 4GBs

I plan on running two monitors
As for the gaming preferences ...I'll be doing BF3 , WOW ( cringe ) and anything I like that comes down the road . My systems have always been crap so I plan to use this one extensively ! That being said if you think 2 670's is overkill or that one large monitor is a better solution I'd definately welcome the input

Assuming that you are talking about 1080p screens, there's absolutely no need for 4gb or SLI as you'll run the game only on one screen.3770k

Whether one larger screen is better depends on your budget, I've recently bought a 27'' 2560x1440 IPS screen from Dell for about 630$ and I really like it, it does also mean lower fps though due to the extra res.
