Right,

im stuck in a bit of a predicament hre...

Got 2 x 8800gtx 768mb OC with waterblocks on...

and coming soon, I have 2 x 8800gt 256mb on air...

Ill have an e8500 too...

So im asking you guys, which is the better rig to use for myself? and will i seiously notice the difference when playing games on a 22" monitor or on my 32" tv on a res of 1366 x 768?

As i may sell the gtx's or the gt's...what would you do?

but by how much? thats what im asking, fps difference in crysis for example? no benchmarks out there which i can find unless someone cares to point me in the right direction....

I thought that the sli experience had improved with the release of the 8800gt ?

Don't know that for a fact tho.

Would definitely try them b4 settling on the gtx setup.

found this showing gtx sli vs gtx285:

8800GTX SLI 624/1462/1057 1680x1050 4xAA

Min FPS: 28.90, Max FPS: 58.44, Average FPS: 48.16

with Vsync and Triplebuffering (d3d9_triplebuffering=1)

Min FPS: 33.36, Max FPS: 58.89, Average FPS: 48.37

GTX285 666/1512/1242 1680x1050 4xAA

Min FPS: 32.86, Max FPS: 61.13, Average FPS: 47.91

with Vsync and Triplebuffering (d3d9_triplebuffering=1)

Min FPS: 32.24, Max FPS: 59.82, Average FPS: 47.85

i would say the gtx havin an extra 512mb on board memory over the 256mb on the 8800gt would kill the 8800gt's at higher res's!!

plus the waterblocks are a good bonus too!!

+1 with kempez

They are better in my opinion, bit faster than the 8800gt and with more ram should help boost frame rates at that resolution. I run 1366x768 res with a 512mb ddr2 radeon 3450 and get good frame rates than using a 256mb ddr2 card thats similar, so on that basis i think you will be better off with the gtx's (personally that's what i would run;))

sod me tose benchmarks are pretty surprising. I would have thought the GTX285 would have been miles ahead. /very happy with his SLI 8800 GTS (G92)512mb's

cheers for the info guys, ill just try the lot when it arrives, give it some proper runs and see how it fares..

Hi Socks.

According to me,2 8800GT beat a single 8800GTX in most benchmarks but in resolutions lower than 1920x1200 , in that resolution more memory is better , so i would keep the 8800GTX

also , remember there are some games that don't support SLI, or they will do bad with SLI due to driver problems.

2 8800GT will be hotter than single 8800GTX too

so keep your 8800GTX.

SLI 8800GT.

8800GTXs were good for their time, but run too hot and take too much power.

An 8800GT will usually beat it, despite having a smaller memory bus and less stream procesors, due to raw clock speed.

They also run a lot cooler and quieter.

I ran 8800GT SLI for a while, they could max out Crysis at 1680 x 1050 with no AA and get an average of 34FPS.
