Dunno if this is the right section but when i'm video calling on skype i get the evil red connection of doom as i call it. this makes no sense because when i look at my bandwidth in resource manager skype is only pulling like 7KB of upload when i test with bbmax there is 700kb/s available. same goes for download other programs run it fine but skype refuses to use anywhere near my full bandwidth(6MB/s for download).

but then sometimes it will shoot up to full connection and then die again. any idea of a fix?

using wired connection

The Skype is a software application that allows users to make voice calls and chats over the Internet. At people on their computers or phones Skype and start calling for free all over the world. it's to talk, make video & conference calls, send instant message, and quickly transfer files

sorry but I didn't ask for Skype's purpose I know what it does I was asking about it'd inefficient use for bandwidth and if there was a solution.

I dont know the answer to your question but as far as bandwidth usage goes the further you are from your connection the lower the speed you will get.

So even if you rated at 700kb {about 87KB} unless that server you used to test your speed is close to the person your calling the speed may be far less the 700kb.

It could also be your ISP is poorly routing the video call connection, this intern will greatly reduce your available bandwidth.

I'm rated at 8MB get 7.2 as can't go any higher(have a corrupt line that BT won't fix) but it's using like none of that 7.2 avalible
