Skylake CPU cooler

Hello everyone,

I am building a mAtx build. I need help choosing a cpu cooler for the Core i7 6700k. I am not very up to date with the current gen pc hardwares as the last pc build I did was a long time ago. Core to quad ;)

I was thinking of getting the Silverstone TD03-lite which cost £47 at Scan. Is this a good cooler?

There are also 3 other 120mm AIO coolers +/- £60: Fractal Design KS T12, Silverstone TD03-E and the NZXT x31.

For air cooler I have read that Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo and Cryorig H7 also are very good for the price(both ~ £27). The H7 is also compatible with the choice of my RAM.

I plan to overclock my CPU.

Hardware for my new build:

CPU: Intel Core i7 6700k
CPU cooler: Undecided
Motherboard: Asus Maximus Viii Gene
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 16gb
GPU: Reuse my current one.
PSU: Reuse my current one.
Storage: Samsung EVO 250 gb
Case: Silverstone TJ08-E

Thank you,

If you plan to overclock, I would recommend a closed loop water cooler. The size and type depends on what case you plan to use as there is a choice of models to suit up to triple 120mm fan mounts and double 140mm fan mounts.

My case can only accommodate 120mm AIO coolers. The only way I can accommodate the dual 140 mm AIO coolers is to buy case like Phanteks Evolv mATX case. I have looked at the Corsair 110i GTX and NZXT Kraken x61 which are both similarly priced.

For the money the Cryorig is probably the best bet. Depending on how much you want to overclock also tells you what your budget should be. If it's only light OC's, the Cryorig is perfect, if you plan to try for a bigger 24/7 OC then i'd say either higher end Noctua air coolers, or the Fractal T12 or the Kraken X31.
