Hey guys, it's my sister's birthday in a month, so I've decided to build her a new gaming rig. She's been moaning at me for a few months about the lack of performance of what started as a "might as well" build I did a couple of years ago with a load of spare parts.
It's been due for an update for a while now, so it's time to get it together.
As it is, she's not a performance freak (like I am), and she's more interested in playable frame rates for all new games.
It's going to be a budget build, so I'll be going with decent second hand hardware where feasible.
So far I've decided on some old favourites of mine, namely the i5 760 and the GTX 560Ti. Quite possibly a Corsair HX PSU as well, but I'm not sure on this one.
I'm still looking for a decent case and board.
I've got a 240x45 rad, a pump and res I want to use on this build as well, but I'm not sure on the water block yet.
My current considerations on a case would be the 300R with a front mounted rad (fun times with dremmel
), or a similar mod on a Shinobi (lovely windows on those).
Considerations on motherboards stretch as far as what I could find on ebay... which wasn't much
(mind you, there's a p7p55d that looks rather nice in there right now)
I also found a Fractal R3 with the drive cage modded out, but that had some dents and I don't think I want something like that for my sister's birthday build.
I'm open to just about any suggestion here. Also, if any of you know where I can find decent hardware at an agreeable price - you're welcome to share the info with me.
