Single 780 or SLI 780 or Single 6GB 780

My 300th post!!! :D
------------------------

I've got a 1440p monitor for quite some time now, i love it.
For everyday tasks, its great. The problem is when it comes to gaming.

On F1 2013, all maxed, a single 780 doesnt sweat at all, as you'd expect from a racing game.
But when playing BF4 online and i like having having game settings on the highest settings, i cant even get a stable 60. It usually plays around 40-55.
I was expecting this from a 1440p.

So now what's the better solution?
Single 780 or SLI 780 or Single 6GB 780

Single 780 - Stick with one card as 40-55FPS is playable anyway. I can seriously still play with these kinds of frames.

SLI 780 - Would this be a better option? Sure it will give me more power to drive the monitor but how about the VRAM?

Single 6GB 780 - EVGA just released their 6GB 780 version. How about this option? There'll be alot of VRAM, probably only 4GB max will be used but how about the power, will it be enough to properly run my monitor?

Thanks all :)

well, the cheapest option would be turning the settings down a little bit
i guarantee you'll hardly notice the difference and the framerate should improve quite a bit
the 6GB 780 won't be any better than your current one

I have two GTX 780's in SLI mode and can play everything maxed out at 1600p (2560x1600) I get a constant 60 FPS or more in every game with maxed out settings.

I think if you went with a single GTX 780 6GB you'd have the same FPS you have now. That extra VRAM is only useful at really high resolutions like 7680x1440 or so.

im waiting on my two 780 6gb to arrive cos im upgrading from 670 sli but i think seeing as you already have one 780 just get one more.

The most obvious option is to lower the settings, AA will probably the biggest factor with Framterate in BF4. Don't have to wait or spend money which is nice.

If money is not really a problem then the best upgrade option is another 780. 3GB is enough memory for 1440p. These cards will last you quite a long time.

Off course GTX780 6GB or GTX780 6GB SLI.
Best gaming option in this moment.
Much more performance that Titan Black for same price.
Except for people who are fans of single GPU as me.
But GTX780 6GB have most sense in SLI in single not at all.
Example some guys pay now 200-250$ for GTX680 4GB Classified because they have one. Instead to pay 700-800$ for some single card they have same or better performance. If you buy now GTX780 better look for 6GB model, because for 1-2 years card will be cheap and you will need more than 3GB memory. But if you want single than it's same.

Buy a 2nd GTX780 and go SLI. Tons of GPU horsepower right there. Should shred anything at 1440. The extra VRAM aint gonna mean any more FPS really. Youre needing raw GPU speed and a pair of GTX780's is about as much raw speed as you can get.

I'm not 100% sure what you were trying to say here dude, but saying buy a 6GB 780 doesn't seem right at all, 3gm more vram will not affect his framerate at all, unless of course he buys two which is, in my opinion, a bit silly.

3GB is the sweet spot at the moment imo. Get another one as you'll need more gpu grunt then Vram at the moment.

To be honest I would still opt for a single card solution wherever possible. Personally I would drop the AA setting and I think you can still maintain high gfx settings in BF4 without it.

but since I had a 120hz monitor i bit the bullet and got a second 780 card (3gb) now even on ultra settings I stay around the 70-80fps mark comfortably.
