Silencer 470 ATX PSU advice please

Hello, I am looking for advice on the Silencer 470 ATX PSU by PC Power. My mobo is an Asus A8V which has a 20 pin connection and a seperate 4 pin (P4 type) connection. On the PSU manufacturers website it says that the 470 supports 20/24 pin mobo's. When I looked at the connection diagram and photos it seems that the PSU has a 24 pin connector. My question is, do I need some kind of adaptor to connect the 24 pin PSU to my mobo or do I just use the 24 pin but leave 4 pins hanging over the end unconnected. Thanks.

THe PSU might come with an adapter, or it might be a 2-part connecter. Its best to have an adapter instead of trying to make the 24 fit into a 20 pin socket on the mobo..the plug shapes could well be different, and there might be stuff around the mobo socket that makes it a hassle.

Hope this helps, welcome to EP!

It does help, thank's for the reply. When I first read the specs of the PSU I thought it might be something like a two part connector but the photos seem to show a one piece connector. Maybe someone who has used one could chip in? Thanks again.
