OCZ ZX 1000 and Corsair RM1000i sleeving questions

Hello,

I'm about to do custom cables for the OCZ ZX 1000 and the Corsair RM1000i and I just want to cross check a few things.

I did my pinout diagram for the OCZ ZX 1000 based on the following information from Overclock.net 's famous repository of power supply pin outs.

OCZ ZX 850w PSU side Pinout
MB Side ATX-PSU Side ATX
1(+3.3v)-5(+3.3v)
2(+3.3v)-17(+3.3v)
3(GND)-8(GND)
4(+5v)-14(+5v)
5(GND)-6(GND)
6(+5v)-13(+5v)
7(GND)-10(GND)
8(PG)-21(PG)-grey wire
9(+5 VSB )-18(+5 VSB )-purple wire
10(+12v)-12(+12v)
11(+12v)-24(+12v)
12(+3.3v)-4(+3.3v)
13(+3.3v)-16(+3.3v)-double wire with brown to 15(psu side)
14(-12v)-19(-12v)-blue wire
15(GND)-23(GND)
16(PS-ON)-20(PS-ON)-green wire
17(GND)-7(GND)
18(GND)-11(GND)
19(GND)-22(GND)
20(Not Used)xxxxxxxxxxxxx15(brown single wire connected with orange wire to 13 on MB side)
21(+5v)-3(+5v)
22(+5v)-2(+5v)
23(+5v)-1(+5v)
24(GND)-9(GND)

1. Is it fair to assume that the OCZ ZX 1000 uses the same pinout as the OCZ ZX 850 ? Can any one confirm ?

Here is the diagram that I traced using that information.

2. Can someone back check that diagram, just to make sure I understood correctly ? (especially for the 13th and 20th pin on the motherboard side)

From what I understood, pin 20 on the motherboard side is not used. However, looking at the standard 24 pin pcie connector, I see that pin 20 should be -5V. I feel there is a problem here.

3. Is there a problem with pin 20 on the motherboard side ?

Finally, for the Corsair RM1000i, I searched for a pinout and only found the AX1200i's pinout diagram.

4. Is that the same pinout as the RM1000i ?

5. What does the "S" on the 3.3V pins refer to ?

6. I don't see the -5V pin, as shown on the standard 24pin connector referred earlier. How is that ?

7.And finally, the 6+2pin pcie connectors are shown as having 4x 12V pins and 4 grounds. The standard connector referred earlier has 3x 12V and 5 grounds. Do I make a double wire from a ground on the PSU side to the 5th ground on the GPU side and leave the extra 12V pin on the PSU side unused ?

Thanks for the input.

A: I wouldnt bother with the OCZ. ugh horrible.

B: the RMi is totally different to the AX1200i. For starters if you look your '24 pin' actually has 28 wires at the PSU end.

Extensions it is !!

As for the OCZ, I don't understand the hate ! I've had it for 4 years without an itch. Pretty well reviewed by jonnyguru as well.

Anyway, can you recommend a few decent 1 to 1 modular psus that sleeve easily ?

easiest would be the Silverstone psus or the seasonic ones. Not 1to1 but no psu is like that at all.

Just buy a cable mod kit dude

What if... what. if. he wants make custom length cables or custom color coordinate them or just wants to do an interesting mod to his rig? learn a skill? have some fun?
Just referring to a pre done kit and not giving more options or opinions is kinda narrow minded.

CableMod do everything but the learning a skill bit for you now dude.... Its the latest thing they have launched. Totally configurable cables.

I had one for 4 years and said the same thing as you, 2 weeks later it went pop and took most of my system with it. They don't have a great track record and arn't loved much on OC3D.

I'll make sure to switch to the Corsair RM1000i then. Thanks for the info.

The nicest PSU's to sleeve by far are Silverstone, second to that would be EVGA/Superflower (obviously not the 9-pin block variants). Avoid Corsair and Seasonic, nobody needs that stress in their life.

You can invest a lot of time and effort into sleeving a PSU and getting the finest quality materials and tools will probably cost more than the PSU so invest in something good to start with that will deliver the best aesthetic and reliable performance. Silverstone are the only manufacturer to use 1:1 pinouts with absolutely no split wires, plus they are very pretty units. EVGA/Superflower have a slightly challenging 24-pin but once you've got past that the rest is really nice.
