Should i RMA my xfx 6870?

I'm having the same issue...the card was idling at 53 celsius and the fan was at 57%, all while idling (and everything set to auto, NOT manual). I uninstalled the Catalyst drivers I had and installed newer drivers. After that, the memory was correctly underclocked while idling, which lowered the idle temps to around 45 celsius. However, the fan was STILL at around 40-45% while idle. It seems like this card is supposed to idle cooler than that, and also the idle fan speed seems to be roughly 25%.

I'm curious, what did they say was wrong with the card? Did they send you a replacement?

XFX tried to make me do a driver reinstall about 4 times, the first reinstalled wrecked the card, by the time they had responded to my response about them making me kill the card i had already RMA'd it and got a refund, i then went out and bought a GTX 560 Twin Frozr.

All the supplier confirmed was that there was a hardware fault (they probably just plugged it in and saw what the driver uninstall had done). From the looks of google it is a common issue with that card idling high, not to mention the noise. All XFX had to say about the matter was sorry you moved to a new card.
