Should i OC my 6800gt?

That stuff is the shizniggle. Get it and you won't be dissapointed. Might sell my Crucial to get some actually (next months paycheck!!). You won't be dissapointed with Kustom PC's either. Try e-mailing their customer support and just see how fast they respond....I've never had to wait longer than a half day (office hours) for a reply...in fact I usually get one in around an hour.....with good detailed advice!

Does Kustom PC's have the Rev. 2 EL Plat. ?

Can't see it on the site....is there a big difference between that and Rev1? They do get stuff on special order if you ask nicely!! :D

Last I checked I don't think the Rev. 1 uses TCCD's but I might be wrong....
 
OC'ed the card a little further, 2c increase in temps and 1000-1500ish increase in 3dmark03 scores, which is great so far :)

Games..I dont play that many at the moment, im waiting for the RAM before i get gaiming. Then of course, im gunna get HL2, thats long overdue for me lol. Im playing the demo at the moment (To test fps etc.)

I played CS for several years until just after 1.6. Dont wanna blow my trumpet, but i was shit hot :D Hehe..i'll probably get into Source too.

Im also planning on buying Far Cry and WoW this summer.

I mostly use my PC for video editing and what not, I love all kinds of that.

I got Max Payne 2 a while ago and finaly got around to playing it the other week, I cleared that today. It may not be much graphicaly any more but its a pretty beautiful game in terms of everything else..lol.

I also play C&C:Generals from time to time.

But yeah, if any of you guys play Source (Whiiich im sure you do) i'd love to get playing with you in a few weeks time.

On the subject of games, I play console games alot (Not as much as i used to, i miss them really.) My all time faves include Final Fantasy 7 and 9, MGS 1,2 and 3, Resident Evil 1, Tomb Raider 1 and Command and Conquer!

Well you're gonna love HL2, CS:S HL2DM and Farcry. They all look sooo amazing. Seriously Farcry with all the settings maxed out is absolutely awesome. That reminds me....must go play it!! lol :D

CSS is the shit... It was a huge breath of fresh air after playing CS 1.6 for like 10 bloody years.

Far Cry is bomb too... HL2 = Magical.

Stay away from Doom 3, sucks a big phat knob.
 
Volt mod that card to 1.4 V in bios ....... that should give u about 25 mhz bump on the core , really easy too ....... lemme know if you want the link to the guide.

My 6800 GT did 435/1150 after the volt mod and NV silencer 5 :D .

I don't blame you. I didn't go for a hard mod with my 6800GT at all.....too expensive and I love it too much!! When its on water.... :D

Well, in my case, theirs not much point in changing any voltages until i max out my OC using coolbits, that right? Then (if i dare..) i could up the voltage slightly in the bios and see if i can OC via coolbits a bit more?

Also, if the card, or any other component, i.e CPU, were to have too much voltage, would it blow instantly, or could it run for several days/weeks before it became to much for it?
 
the main thing is the temps of your card , I STRONGLY recommend getting an aftermarket cooler ( Arctic cooling comes to mind but the Zalman 700Cu is good too ) . Once you get that , then drop me a line on this thread and ill link you to the guide which explains the bios flash. Its not that hard , just go slow and check and recheck every command and ull be allset. See where coolbits maxes out right now though . The stock cooler cannot handle the heat of an overclocked 6800 GT that well thus my recommendation for NV silencer 5 ( hot air out of the case not into it ;) ).

its not a hard mod , just a bios flash . Not with a different bios but the bios of ur card , all you do is edit the voltage and def. 3D clocks .

Voltage to 1.4 V from 1.3V of the GT and stock 3D clocks to 400 mhz from 350 mhz .

For the memory I advise leaving the clocks as they are while editing the bios but using coolbits to find out the max later on . :cool:
