Is there any particular reason you feel the need to change anything? That looks like a pretty solid system to me

He asks whether he should change his board or processor so I'm guessing he wants more speed? lol.

Exactly more speed coz while im playing gta4 @ 1440x900 res. with all setings at MAX i found it running average 35 fps!

if there is any solution to run it at decent fps without change anything that would be great

and ofcourse i believe its not my vga coz i tried HD4870 and its only raised me 2 fps

thanks for your replies

Have you overclocked your CPU or GPU at all? That mobo/cpu/cooler combo should be perfectly capable of at 3.6GHz, probably more, and the HD 4850 tend to have quite a bit of potential

I OCed my cpu to 3.8 (477x8) @ 1.25 vcore and i ran orthos for about 1.30 hours

and maximum temp reached 54

my gpu OCed @ 700/998

my default gpu is 625/993

Is it better to change my cpu to get a better performance OR should i consider somthing else

Mate I don't see your problem if you have OC'ed it that high.

Maybe you should try doing some ccleaning and disk de-fragmentation.

Anyone else agree?

gta4 is one of the most demanding games atm. The only way you will be able to pull some more fps out is by getting a quad cpu. As this game is optimised to take advantage of extra cores.

So IF and only IF you really want to get better fps in gta4 and NOT in any other games, get a quad, something along the lines of Q6600 would be perfect.

+ overclocking that to 3.6Ghz and you have a winner

Tbh im in the same boat atm, the game runs absolute pants, with my E6320 oced to 3.1Ghz and a GTX280...

I don't really see the point. GTAIV is known to be really tough on hardware and you can max. it out with playable framerates. Unless you have massive frame drops there is no reason to upgrade at all considering your eyes only observe at 25-27fps.

Well he can run it at 35fps and, in the world of gaming, 30fps is considered smooth. So no need for a quad!

i agreed but that didnt help much coz i feel already my temp is good

CCleaning is a way to remove lots and lots of cr@p in your hard drive so it becomes faster and saves you disk space.

De-fragmentation, makes things neater inside your hard drive so your PC can find the required file when needed even quicker.

Nothing to do with temperature.

This will help you because of the following reasons:

More extra space.

Quicker loading times.

And lots of other reasons.

30 fps during action?

Holy crap you have a strong rig.

I say that there isn't any need for upgrading.

If you still care about FPS in GTAIV then I recommend you lower some of the settings.

But that's it.

Have fun playing!
