Shamino Leaves Evga?

Tough break ^^

Wasn't there news about EVGA losing a big part of their motherboard team a couple of months ago?

indeed they went to sapphire

dont know if it is true though

makes me wonder if we are going to see a P67 classified by EVGA that will live up to its name though

I still think EVGA are having problems, and you are just seeing the start of people jumping ship.

Oh goody gumdrops ! Now Sapphire can continue to make crap motherboards.

Tough break ^^

Tough break? Why would you want people who come up with the most terrible bios layouts in the world of computing?

There could be a few reasons for this. Maybe having their (EVGA) asses handed to them on every board for board with Asus has made them rethink things a little?

Mind you, this was exactly the same death throes that came from BFG. Stopped making PCs, stopping making boards, stopped making PSUs.. Year later they stopped making anything.

EVGA's problem is that they have not been able to pull the wool over the eyes of the Europeans. They have done a bloody great job of it in the USA but it's only people who really want to be different here in England that buy EVGA. Their customer service here sucks (because there isn't any) and there is no one you can turn to if you have a problem. At all.

Now in Germany? Oh they have made sure to take good care of their German users. German customer support numbers everything. Yet they sell their stuff here and we get no support whatsoever.

Which would all be fine if their stuff wasn't such poo.

There's a reason you never knew. They were absolutely and utterly atrocious. Like, the absolute worst boards ever made.

I got a Pure Crossfire recently. Took it out of the box, turned it over.. VRM ramsinks fell off. Look under the bottom covered in flux wash.

As if looks were not bad enough? Well, all over the box it said supports Phenom X4 CPU and Phenom FX. Yet my 9950 went in and it was as dead as a dodo. Sent it back and Scan screwed me out of £15 as apparently there was nothing wrong with it

If that's why those EVGA dudes have gone over there then Sapphire's line up will be complete.

Crap boards, crap quality crap looks and crap bioses.

Still, I suppose that Sapphire can be the litter box and keep all of the crap in one place..

As you probably guessed I am not a big fan of Sapphire or EVGA. I don't like companies that make GPUs only (rebrands)and then get all clever and think they can produce a good motherboard. They can't, and it shows.

From what I recall, one of their first (if not their first) motherboards back in 2005 was actually quite decent and put Sapphire onto the map. Then again, that might be partially because it was one of the early few Xpress 200 Socket 939 enthusiast boards that wasn't utter crap. Pretty obvious they haven't really delivered since then though.

Mr strawberry, please edit your post and remove the bad language, your probably aware this is a relaxed forum but there's a few of you taking the wee wee just lately!

Back on track - wasn't the pure sapphire the White pcb board that looked amazing?

think that is the first time i swore on this forum as well lol

Nearly all of their motherboards bear the name PURE actually

But yes, they've had a few white PCB boards, the board I was referring to being one of them with a white PCB, red slot color scheme:

Sapphire PURE RX480 "Grouper"

Maybe when they called them pure they did a typo and it was supposed to say puke?

It's rather obvious to see the flaw really. They tried doing it on the cheap but make them look nice. And with that corners were obviously cut. Not only that but they had no experience either (unlike Asrock who were founded by Asus people) and so they either fell apart when you touched them or just didn't work.

The one I got and the model above it both had this problem where bios would freeze and you would need to take the whole PC apart and put it back together to get it working. Bios updates were non existant and NONE of their boards support Thuban, even though they should.

That's what it comes down to really. I mean, all manus put out a stinker at some point in their career. It's just whether you have the skill to fix those flaws and get the bioses constantly updated.
