Setup Lifespan

Hi folks,

Can anyone give me a general idea of what the lifespan of & cpu and gpu waterblocks is? When I strip them down to clean should I just be looking to make sure the flow paths have not corroded too much and make a judgement based on that? Or is there a more cut and dry timescale?

Im running a loop with a XCSP Rasa cpu block and a Swiftech Komodo 7970 full cover block, with dyed coolant.

Thanks for the help.

Blocks last for a very long time. Most coolants come with corrosion inhibitors so I wouldn't worry about blocks corroding. Expect to change the GPU and CPU due to its age before the block.

Thanks for the reply ghost, I've had my watetblocks adrift this weekend whole I cleaned my loop out, everything seemed healthy, light staining off my red dye but nothing I'll get it in a twist over.

Cheers again.

What Ghost said really...

But - depending on what coolant you use, it may corrode or gunk up your blocks more, so it may make them last a little less time.

Just be sure to change your coolant every 6 months or so, and flush everything well.

Understood. Too much lurking on the forums and I think a little paranoia set in. On a side note, what do you use to flush your loop? Particularly the rad, as that was an absolute son of a bitch to clean.

tap water for starters once you get all the crap out rinse 3/4 times with distilled water, you can use warm water to rinse if you have stubborn crap just put water in shake repeat till clean.
